Marty Pocius and Nolan Smith got to play a competitive game as teammates for the first time since being teammates at Duke.  Both players joined Galatasaray in Turkey this offseason, a team that will be looking to have good seasons both domestically and in the EuroLeague.  Their teammates include ex-Florida International and longtime NBA player Carlos Arroyo, ex-Saint Louis player Ian Vougioukas, ex-Midland Community College and brief NBA player Nate Jawai, Sinan Guler, who went to NAIA school Carroll College, and Furkan Aldemir, who was drafted 53rd in 2012 by the Los Angeles Clippers before a pair of trades moved his rights to the Philadelphia 76ers.  Their first game was part of the Turkish Cup, which starts before the domestic league season with three games for each team in a group stage.  They beat Konyaspor 78-71 to start the season on a winning note.  Nolan had 9 points in 28 minutes before fouling out and Marty had 2 points in 18 minutes.  Arroyo led the team with 19 points and 6 assists and Aldemir had 15 points and 10 rebounds.  In the loss, ex-New Mexico player Troy DeVries had 26 points and 6 assists, ex-Boston College player Sean Williams had 19 points and 11 rebounds, and former Illinois-Chicago player Josh Mayo had 13 points.

On Monday, Marty and Nolan helped the team qualify for the next round of the Turkish Cup by holding off Gaziantep 72-70.  Nolan led all scorers with 20 points and added 9 rebounds in 37 minutes and Marty had 12 points in 34 minutes.  In the loss, ex-Colorado player Cory Higgins had 16 points, ex-Indiana player Earl Calloway had 13 points and 8 assists, ex-UNC player Jawad Williams had 12 points, and ex-Syracuse player Paul Harris had 11 points and 7 rebounds.
