On Saturday, Monique Currie started another season in South Korea after she was picked seventh in the foreigner draft in July.  She had 13 points in 14 minutes in a 70-62 win.  Her fellow foreign player is rookie Jonquel Jones from George Washington, who had 22 points and 20 rebounds as league rules forbid both of them from being on the court at the same time.  In the loss, ex-Maryland player Alyssa Thomas had 16 points and 11 rebounds and Indiana player Kimberly Roberson had 10 points.

Lindsey Harding did not get a battle of former Duke point guards as Chelsea Gray has not joined Abdullah Gul University yet as they beat Besiktas 66-56.  Lindsey had 17 points as she played all 40 minutes.  In the win, LaToya Pringle/Lara Sanders had 18 points and 8 rebounds, Tanisha Wright had 15 points and 8 assists, and Ann Wauters had 12 points and 8 rebounds.  Shavonte Zellous had 12 points in the loss.

On Sunday, Karima Christmas started her season in South Korea.  After her success two seasons ago, she was one of projected top picks in the foreigner draft and ended up being picked second.  The other foreigner on the team who she will split time with is ex-Maryland player Tianna Hawkins.  In this game, they lost 61-46 as Karima had 13 points and 13 rebounds in 21 minutes.  In the win, ex-Texas Tech player and Karima's WNBA teammate Plenette Pierson had 19 points and 7 rebounds and rookie Bashaara Graves from Tennessee had 10 points.

Carlos Boozer made his overseas debut with Guangdong in a 109-74 loss to Shanxi.  After not getting the offers that he wanted last season, Carlos opted to play in China, where he is joined by another NBA veteran in ex-Texas A&M player Donald Sloan.  In this game, Carlos had 11 points and 8 rebounds in 31 minutes and Sloan had 12 points and 6 assists.  In the win, ex-San Diego State player Jamaal Franklin had 31 points and 9 rebounds and ex-Seton Hall player Samuel Dalembert had 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Shavlik Randolph also started his season in China as he returned to Liaoning in their 115-100 win over the newer Jiangsu team based in Changzhou.  The team retained its core after reaching the finals last season and the other foreign player will be former Tennessee-Martin player Lester Hudson again as the team also has a strong domestic contingent.  In this game, Shavlik had 16 points and 11 rebounds in 28 minutes and Hudson had 33 points.  In the loss, a pair of recent NBA departures had big games as ex-Pitt player DeJuan Blair had 31 points and 10 rebounds and ex-Oregon State player Jared Cunningham had 31 points.
