Alana Beard started her season in South Korea with the Shinhan Bank S-Birds.  With increasing financial instability affecting paycheck reliability around Europe, South Korea has become an attractive option for American basketball players.  The six teams in the league are all sponsored by corporations.  With a limit of two foreigners per team in the Women's Korean Basketball League, there is a higher number of foreign players that want to join the league than there are available spots.  Each team got to draft two players out of a pool of players that made themselves available for the league and Alana was one of the players selected.  The other player that the team picked was former Tennessee player Shekinna Stricklen.  In their first game of the season, they faced KDB Life Winnus and overcame an early deficit for an 89-78 win.  Alana had 16 points and 7 rebounds in 18 minutes.  Shekinna Stricklen had 14 points and 7 rebounds.  In the loss, ex-Tennessee player Kelley Cain had 25 points and 15 rebounds.
