Duke Basketball Overseas -- part 35 of a season long series

On Tuesday, David McClure and Siauliai had the second game of their Lithuanian Cup series with Juventus and built on the lead they had from the first leg with a 73-56 win to move on to the next round.  David led his team with 13 points in 24 minutes.  Travis Leslie had 12 points and 6 rebounds and Vytautas Sulskis had 11 points and 6 rebounds.  In the loss, ex-Seton Hall player Jeremy Hazell had 18 points.

On Wednesday, Shelden Williams and Tianjin sealed their playoff spot by holding off Fujian 110-103.  Shelden had 34 points and 19 rebounds in 36 minutes.  Sebastian Telfair had 27 points, 6 rebounds, and 10 assists.  In the loss, ex-St. Joseph's player Delonte West had 25 points and ex-South Florida player Will McDonald had 17 points.

Lance Thomas continues to play out the season for Foshan with Shavlik Randolph still out and they lost 116-108 to Jiangsu.  Lance had 27 points and 13 rebounds as he got to play all 48 minutes.  In the win, ex-Tennessee player Marcus Haislip had 31 points and ex-Iowa State player Jackson Vroman had 10 points and 9 rebounds.

Nolan Smith and Cedevita Zagreb returned to EuroCup play hosting Spain's Zaragoza in a key game, losing right at the buzzer 77-74.  Nolan had 6 points in 18 minutes.  In the win, ex-Texas A&M player Joseph Jones had 12 points and 6 rebounds and Henk Norel, the 47th pick of the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2009, had 12 points.

DeMarcus Nelson and Red Star Belgrade went to Spain for their EuroCup game and nearly gave up their lead before beating Bilbao 85-81, qualifying them for the next round while eliminating their opponents.  DeMarcus had 13 points and 6 assists in 35 minutes.  Tadija Dragicevic had 16 points and 7 rebounds and Ivan Radenovic had 11 points.

Karima Christmas and Maccabi Ramat Hen started the next stage of the Israeli League with a game against Ramat Hasharon, falling 71-60.  Karima had 20 points and 10 rebounds in 37 minutes.  Ashley Shields added 10 points.  In the win, rookie Tierra Ruffin-Pratt from UNC had 19 points, ex-Liberty player Megan Frazee had 17 points and 7 rebounds, ex-Pitt player Laine Selwyn had 12 points and 10 rebounds, and ex-UNLV player Shamela Hampton had 12 points and 8 rebounds.

Krystal Thomas and Perfumerias Avenida traveled to Croatia for a EuroLeague Women game at Novi Zagreb, hanging on to a 77-76 win and eliminating their opponents.  Krystal had 2 points in 11 minutes.  Shay Murphy and Leonor Rodriguez had 14 points each and Angelica Robinson had 13 points and 7 rebounds.

On Thursday, Marty Pocius and Zalgiris Kaunas looked for their first win of this stage of EuroLeague and had an early offensive explosion to beat Serbia's Partizan Belgrade 89-77 at home.  Marty did his part with 18 points and 7 assists in 25 minutes.  Justin Dentmon had 23 points and 6 assists and Robertas Javtokas had 14 points.  In the loss, Joffrey Lauvergne, the 55th pick of the last draft by the Memphis Grizzlies before a draft day trade to the Denver Nuggets, had 14 points and 7 rebounds.

Monique Currie and the KB Stars lost 69-61 to Woori Bank Hansae.  Monique had 8 points and 15 rebounds in 34 minutes.  In the win, ex-UCLA player Noelle Quinn had 20 points and 12 rebounds.

On Friday, Shelden Williams and Tianjin continued jockeying for playoff positioning, jumping on Shanghai and winning 120-94, leaving some time to rest the stars as well.  Shelden had 17 points and 10 rebounds in 28 minutes.  Sebastian Telfair had 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists.  In the loss, ex-Rutgers player Quincy Douby had 18 points and ex-Kansas player Darnell Jackson had 14 points.

Daniel Ewing and Paris-Levallois looked to defend their Leaders Cup crown with a quarterfinal matchup with Orleans, taking the lead early and winning 89-64..  France has two different kinds of cup competition, one incorporating teams from many different levels of play and this one, which brings the top 8 teams from the first half of the season to Disneyland Paris.  Daniel's team finished 6th after 15 games and drew the team that finished 3rd.  Daniel led his team with 15 points and 7 assists in 27 minutes.  Blake Schilb and Maleye Ndoye had 14 points each and Elton Brown had 12 points.  In the loss, ex-Notre Dame player Kyle McAlarney had 21 points and ex-Colorado State player Brian Greene had 13 points.

Alana Beard and the Shinhan Bank S-Birds beat KEB-Hanabank 72-60.  Alana had 15 points in 14 minutes and Shekinna Stricklen had 16 points.  In the loss, ex-Kansas player Nakia Sanford had 18 points and 13 rebounds.
