Duke Basketball Overseas -- part 3 of a season long series

10/10/2013

On Tuesday, Krystal Thomas made her debut for Perfumerias Avenida in the Super Cup in Spain.  After spending last WNBA offseason playing in China, Krystal is back in Europe competing for the Spanish powerhouse based in Salamanca.  Her teammates include recent Florida State graduate Leonor Rodriguez, ex-USC player Shay Murphy, ex-Georgia player Angelica Robinson, ex-Lamar player Tamara Abalde, and ex-WNBA player Marta Fernandez.  After a quick turnaround from the WNBA playoffs, Krystal joined the team against their main league rivals, Rivas Ecopolis.  Krystal is still getting acclimated with the team, so she ended up playing 7 minutes in this game, which went down to the wire.  Shay Murphy hit the three pointer to give the team the lead late and then iced the game away with two free throws to give the team a 62-57 win.  She finished with 21 points and 8 rebounds and Angelica Robinson had 17 points and 7 rebounds.  In the loss, ex-Baylor player Rachel Allison had 14 points and 7 rebounds.
