Duke Basketball Overseas -- part 26 of a season long series

On Monday, Paris-Levallois finished the game that was stopped because of the fight involving Daniel Ewing.  Nothing happened in the final 8 seconds, but the game is now finally official.

Karima Christmas and Maccabi Ramat Hen took control of their game with Hapoel Petah-Tikva to start the second half to continue their winning streak by a 72-64 final margin.  Karima had 16 points and 10 rebounds in 36 minutes.  Ashley Shields had 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists and Brittany Denson had 12 points and 11 rebounds.  In the loss, ex-Syracuse player Juanita Ward had 19 points and 9 rebounds and rookie Jasmine Thomas from Michigan State had 14 points.

On Tuesday, David McClure and Siauliai returned from their holiday break with a domestic league game against Juventus, easing to a 91-64 win.  David had a quiet night on the scoring front, but did grab 4 rebounds in 27 minutes.  Derek Needham had 28 points and Chris Cooper had 11 points and 10 rebounds.  In the loss, former Tennessee-Chattanooga player Keyron Sheard had 10 points.

On Wednesday, Shelden Williams and Tianjin looked to continue their winning streak against Guangsha and did so after prevailing 143-138 in double overtime.  Shelden had 33 points and 15 rebounds in 47 minutes and Sebastian Telfair had 26 points and 14 assists.  In the loss, ex-New Mexico State player Johnathan Gibson had 46 points and ex-LSU player Chris Johnson had 32 points and 16 rebounds.

Lance Thomas had to put in another full game of action with Shavlik Randolph still injured and no foreign player to offer support as Foshan fell 114-109 to Jilin.  Lance finished with 27 points and 18 rebounds in his 48 minutes.  In the win, ex-James Madison player Denzel Bowles had 34 points and 18 rebounds and ex-Northern Illinois player Leon Rodgers had 31 points.

DeMarcus Nelson and Red Star Belgrade were out of the race for Europe's biggest prize, but started their EuroCup campaign hosting Spain's Bilbao in a Group L game.  They put on a show for the home fans, rolling to a 105-87 win.  DeMarcus had 11 points and 6 assists in 27 minutes.  Charles Jenkins had 16 points and Tadija Dragicevic, the 53rd pick of the Utah Jazz in 2008 before his rights were traded to the Dallas Mavericks and the latest addition to the team, added 10 points.  In the loss, ex-Texas A&M player Antanas Kavaliauskas had 13 points and ex-NBA player Raul Lopez had 12 points.

Nolan Smith was not available to Cedevita Zagreb as they started Group P of the EuroCup with a trip to Spain to face Zaragoza and held on to an important 75-67 win.  Picking up the slack at lead guard, Allan Ray had 17 points with Goran Suton adding 14 points.  In the loss, ex-Texas A&M player Joseph Jones had 20 points and 6 rebounds.

Alana Beard and the Shinhan Bank S-Birds needed overtime to beat shorthand KDB Life Winnus 81-76.  Alana had 21 points and 9 rebounds in 18 minutes and Shekinna Stricklen had 33 points and 12 rebounds.

Kathleen Scheer and the Sydney University Flames fell 81-68 to the Townsville Fire.  Kathleen had 13 points in 14 minutes.  In the win, ex-WNBA player Suzy Batkovic had 20 points and 19 rebounds and ex-Oregon player Micaela Cocks had 20 points and 7 rebounds.

On Thursday, David McClure and Siauliai had the second leg of a Lithuanian Cup tie with Dzukija.  They had to overcome an 11 point deficit to move on to the next round and did so by establishing control in the second quarter and rolling to a 90-55 win.  David had 9 points and 9 rebounds in 29 minutes.  Derek Needham had 14 points and 7 assists and Vytautas Sulskis had 14 points.

On Friday, Shelden Williams and Tianjin ran into trouble against powerhouse Guangdong and were crushed 116-70.  Shelden only played 12 minutes scoring 4 points as the team could not compete shorthanded.  In the win, rookie Khalif Wyatt from Temple had 18 points and 6 assists.

Lance Thomas and Foshan could not overcome a slow start and lost 110-102 to Shandong with Shavlik Randolph still injured.  Lance had 27 points in 35 minutes.  In the win, ex-Portland player Pooh Jeter had 17 points and ex-Florida player Donnell Harvey had 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Marty Pocius is still out injured as Zalgiris Kaunas put up a brave fight in their EuroLeague game in Russia at CSKA Moscow, but fell 77-62.  Justin Dentmon had 22 points and 7 rebounds.  In the win, ex-NBA player Nenad Krstic had 12 points and 6 rebounds and ex-Arkansas player Sonny Weems had 11 points.

Alana Beard and the Shinhan Bank S-Birds continued a strong run by beating the Samsung Life Blue Minx 75-72.  Alana had a quiet night offensively, battling foul trouble and grabbing 4 rebounds in 13 minutes.  Shekinna Stricklen had 24 points and 9 rebounds.  In the loss, ex-UConn player Charde Houston had 37 points and 12 rebounds.

Krystal Thomas and Perfumerias Avenida returned from their holiday break and doubled up Burgos 80-40.  Krystal had 2 points and 9 rebounds in 24 minutes.  Shay Murphy had 23 points, Angelica Robinson had 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Leonor Rodriguez and Marta Fernandez had 10 points each.  In the loss, ex-Texas A&M player Adaora Elonu had 14 points.
