Duke Basketball Overseas -- part 19 of a season long series

On Saturday, it was a battle between two former Duke players as Kathleen Scheer and the Sydney University Flames hosted Jess Foley and the Adelaide Lightning.  In a close game, it was Jess and the Lightning that scored enough in the fourth quarter to edge the Flames 63-62.  Jess had 17 points in 37 minutes to lead her team while Kathleen had 11 points in 26 minutes.  Chay Shegog added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the win. Monique Currie and the KB Stars survived the Samsung Life Blue Minx 58-57.  Monique had games highs of 20 points and 10 rebounds in 31 minutes.  In the loss, ex-Middle Tennessee State player Amber Holt had 19 points. Krystal Thomas and Perfumerias Avenida returned to domestic league play and hosted Zamora, winning 74-65 after letting it get close entering the final quarter.  Krystal had 2 points and 8 rebounds in 19 minutes.  Marta Fernandez had 16 points and 8 assists and Shay Murphy had 15 points.  In the loss, rookie Blanche Alverson from Auburn had 10 points. Nolan Smith and Cedevita Zagreb traveled to Montenegro for an Adriatic League game at Buducnost, but could not come back late after falling behind early in the second half, losing 64-60.  Nolan led his team with 16 points in 37 minutes. Daniel Ewing and Paris-Levallois continued a strong run in the league by beating Antibes 83-61.  Daniel had 10 points in 22 minutes.  Jawad Williams had 16 points and Aloysius Anagonye had 10 points.  In the loss, ex-Clemson player Will Solomon had 12 points. On Sunday, Chante Black and Umbertide played Ragusa and fell behind in the second half, losing 77-70.  Chante had 22 points and 10 rebounds in 33 minutes and Ashleigh Fontenette had 10 points.  In the loss, ex-Cal player Ashley Walker had 18 points and 14 rebounds. Shelden Williams and Tianjin lost to Shandong 104-94.  Shelden had 15 points and 8 rebounds in 31 minutes and Sebastian Telfair had 17 points.  In the win, ex-Portland player Pooh Jeter had 37 points.

Already without Shavlik Randolph, Foshan was even more shorthanded as they faced Shanghai and lost 94-83.  Dexter Pittman had 16 points.  In the win, ex-Kansas player Darnell Jackson had 24 points and ex-Rutgers player Quincy Douby had 21 points. David McClure and Neptunas finally found space in their busy schedule to play a domestic league game as they faced Nevezis as David did not end up playing in a 69-68 win.  In the loss, ex-Western Kentucky player Tyrone Brazelton and ex-JC player Arvydas Siksnius had 17 points each. On Monday, it was another direct clash between former Duke players as Monique Currie and the KB Stars squared off against Alana Beard and the Shinhan Bank S-Birds.  Monique drove her team to the 73-68 win as she had 36 points and 8 rebounds in 32 minutes.  Alana had 7 points and 6 rebounds in 12 minutes as Shekinna Stricklen had 12 points and 8 rebounds.

DeMarcus Nelson and Red Star Belgrade hosted Zadar of Croatia in Adriatic League play and they took care of business with an 82-69 win.  DeMarcus had 9 points in 21 minutes and Charles Jenkins had 10 points.  In the loss, rookie Andrew Lawrence from College of Charleston had 10 points.
