Duke Basketball Overseas 1/20/18

On Saturday, Daniel Ewing started his season in Argentina with Ferro Carril Oeste as the team needed another player in the middle of the season, giving him a debut in their 88-72 loss to San Martin.  His teammates include ex-UCLA player Dijon Thompson and ex-Ole Miss player Aaron Harper.  In this game, Daniel had 6 points in 14 minutes.  Harper had 18 points.  In the win, ex-DII player Justin Keenan had 26 points and 9 rebounds and ex-Akron player Jeremiah Wood had 13 points and 12 rebounds.

On Monday, Daniel Ewing and Ferro Carril Oesto beat Regatas Corrientes 82-80.  Daniel had 3 points in 14 minutes.  Aaron Harper had 12 points in 30 minutes.  In the loss, ex-UC Santa Barbara player Alex Harris had 10 points and 6 rebounds.

Elizabeth Williams and Liaoning lost to Sichuan 72-61.  Elizabeth had 12 points, 9 rebounds, 8 steals, and 6 blocks as she played all 40 minutes.  In the win, ex-West Virginia player Yelena Leuchanka had 24 points and 25 rebounds.

On Tuesday, Shavlik Randolph and his team lost to Fujian 135-121.  Shavlik had 40 points and 16 rebounds in 38 minutes.  Stephon Marbury had 11 points.  In the win, ex-Louisville player Russ Smith had 45 points, 6 rebounds, and 11 assists, Wang Zhelin, the 57th pick of the last draft by the Memphis Grizzlies, had 19 points and 9 rebounds, and ex-Rice player Mike Harris had 15 points and 7 rebounds.

On Wednesday, DeMarcus Nelson and Lyon-Villeurbanne faced fellow French side Limoges CSP in EuroCup, winning 92-78.  DeMarcus had 9 points in 22 minutes.  Darryl Watkins had 17 points and 7 rebounds, John Roberson had 13 points, David Lighty had 12 points, and A.J. Slaughter had 11 points and 6 assists.  In the loss, ex-Saint Louis player Brian Conklin had 12 points and 6 rebounds and former Maryland high schooler William Howard had 11 points and 6 rebounds.

Monique Currie and the Stars beat one of her former team, the Blue Minx, 67-63.  Monique had 27 points and 16 rebounds as she played all 40 minutes.  In the loss, ex-Maryland player Alyssa Thomas had 12 points, 17 rebounds, 7 assists, and 6 steals.

Elizabeth Williams did not play in the last game of the season for Liaoning as they had already been eliminated from the playoffs before a 80-69 loss to Heilongjiang.  It was a solid season for Elizabeth in China, although a promising start for the team did not continue during the stretch run as they fell short of their goals.

Oderah Chidom and Celje hosted Buducnost of Montenegro in Women's Adriatic Basketball Association League play, winning 59-51.  Oderah had 4 points in 22 minutes.

Angela Salvadores and Sopron had a EuroLeague Women trip to Belgium, beating Castors Braine 66-61.  Angela had 12 points in 23 minutes.  Crystal Langhorne had 15 points and 8 rebounds and Yvonne Turner had 11 points.  In the loss, ex-UAB player Britney Jones had 21 points and ex-UTEP player Anete Steinberga had 14 points.

Chante Black returned for Winnus as they lost 69-55 to the S-Birds.  Chante had 8 points and 7 rebounds in 18 minutes.  In the win, ex-Cal player Reshanda Gray had 19 points and 19 rebounds and ex-UTEP player Kayla Thornton had 15 points and 9 rebounds.
