I believe I'll re-open it, let's say, about (9)909 PM tonight. ;) :D
HA! I love the re-opening time. :))
I get it, I just think it's kind of silly. Especially if you're going to merge anything with the LTE.
You're worried about silly?

After what we just did?

I strongly agree with this.
But I like locking it for a bit (less than another hour and a half) to take a breather and admire our efforts.
1. I didn't create any of the other threads. Y'all did that to "subvert" the locking. I have no problem with that.
2. The merging, if I can figger out that task, would be stuff posted in the LTE anyway, so they should blend well.

I merged the two lock threads. Requires less keys. ;)

What the hell did I miss today? Anyone want to summarize what happened over in the LTE so that I don't have to read through it all?

And, for the record, I also think locking it was a bad idea.

Yesterday afternoon, CellR noted that today was 9/9/09, and somehow we managed to turn that into a challenge to reach 9909 posts in LTE 2.0 before the end of the day. A little less than 29 hours and a little more than 1700 posts later, we've done it. Consensus was to lock the thread until 9:09 and let our keyboards cool off, but there's been some dissent.

The short version? We average almost one post a minute to get to 9909. It took Wilson 65 posts just to say good he was leaving (really leaving...going for sur this time)

We also found a solution to healthcare in the US, formulated an exit strategy for Iraq and Afghanistan, and got North Korea to disarm its Nukes.

We formulated the perfect barbecue recipe, identified the perfect beer for any occassion, AND forged a lasting peace between Pakistan and India.

Nothing much happened.

You weren't around and most, though not all agreed that it was a reasonable idea, in fact, a few wanted it locked until midnight. I'll stand by my decision.

It's (9)909 PM now. Time to unlock the LTE and let the PW-ing resume.

Onward to 10K and beyond...
