TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa police say Billy Mays, the television pitchman known for his boisterous hawking of products such as Orange Glo and OxiClean, has died. He was 50.
Authorities say Mays was pronounced dead Sunday morning after being found by his wife at home. There were no signs of a break-in, and investigators do not suspect foul play. The coroner's office expects to have an autopsy done by Monday afternoon.
Mays' wife, Deborah Mays, says the family doesn't expect to make any public statements and asked for privacy.

Re: Billy Mays passes away...
Apparantely he may have died because he didn't wear his seat belt while his plane was landing. Seriously.
"After the flight, Billy told FOX 13 in Tampa that something struck him in the head -- here's Billy's actual quote:
"All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping. It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."
We called the FAA for comment, and a spokesperson told us, "The passenger needs to wear a seat belt during landing and he didn't.""
That being said, unless he was in the aisle seat (possible) I don't see how wearing his seat belt would have been the cause for a head hit unless he went flying up and hit the overhead compartment. If stuff is falling, yer gonna be hit whether strapped in or not. I hear a lawyer drooling somewhere. (Apologies to Cathy)

Re: Billy Mays passes away...
Maybe he went up a little and the overhead compartment popped open and is one of the ones that goes down?
Wow, how sad. I had always heard that these things come in threes. I was thinking Farrah and Michael and wondering where the third one would come from. I know he's not on their level, but I did like his ESPN internet commercials. I thought those were hilarious. And don't forget the big city sliders!
It's kinda sad after the way Natasha Richardson, Liam Neeson's wife, died. Didn't she die the same way, only it was from hitting her head while skiing. You'd think people would have learned from that that they need to take hits to the head seriously.

Having said that, I do know several attorneys in Tampa who would be interested in looking at this case.

Well actually, as I posted over yonder, Mays is #4. Ed McMahon was first. So are we in for a second set of three? Sure hope not.bjornolf wrote: I had always heard that these things come in threes. I was thinking Farrah and Michael and wondering where the third one would come from.

I'm sure there would be a very sweet fee for negotiating the settlement. You sure you don't want a part of that?CathyCA wrote:I'm not touching this lawsuit with a ten foot pole.CameronBornAndBred wrote:Apparantely he may have died because he didn't wear his seat belt while his plane was landing. I don't chase clients. Someone else will get the Billy Mays case.

Still sad but it doesn't look/sound like all the Magic Putty and/or OxyClean in the universe would have helped that. Maybe he just yelled too much. :roll:TillyGalore wrote:Looks like Billy may have died from heart disease.

I just saw an Oxi-Clean commercial with a generic female voice-over. It was just...wrong.

While I didn't see the commercial, so don't know how it sounded, but it had to be better than Billy screaming at me.wilson wrote:I just saw an Oxi-Clean commercial with a generic female voice-over. It was just...wrong.

Wow. I keep seeing the bona fide Billy Mays commercials still. They're still annoying, but I can tolerate them a bit easier now.wilson wrote:I just saw an Oxi-Clean commercial with a generic female voice-over. It was just...wrong.

K68 and I can't stand repetitive things like the beginning of that commercial. Drove me nuts seeing/hearing that commercial.Lavabe wrote:Unless it's the woman doing the voiceover for this commercial:TillyGalore wrote:While I didn't see the commercial, so don't know how it sounded, but it had to be better than Billy screaming at me.wilson wrote:I just saw an Oxi-Clean commercial with a generic female voice-over.
