Re: Ymm, Beer!
Birthday beer #1 yesterdeay:
Cara Mia-Sun Lab Brewing Company (brewed and canned by Westbrook Brewing Company)
Tough call on local as it’s from a FL brewery but brewed in SC .
Credit-trader from TT; thanks!!
Style-fruited American sour ale
Format-pint can, the contents of which evaporated verrrry quickly; almost shared equally
Bottom of can info-3944 02/18/22 09:07
Stemware-that large wine glass, again
Appearance-cloudy tangerine with a light peachy, fluffy top
Nose-gallons of OJ
Mouthfeel-hint of sour
Tastes-loads of oranges, generous amount of apricot and some lemon and lime juices
Adjuncts-Cara Mia oranges and apricot (variety not specified)
IBU-maybe 10
ABV-5.7%
Overall impression-I had my doubts seeing an unknown FL brewery prominently printed near the top of the label but with Westbrook brewing it, I knew it’d be delicious and it was, especially paired with some grilled salmon, sauteed spinach and an almond rice pilaf
Ymm, Beer rating-low cat 3; very pleasant beverage on a warm, late spring evening

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Late PM nightcap:
Coffee Vanilla Armagnac Barrel Dire Wolf-Wolf’s Ridge Brewing
Local for the family buying agent.
Credit-trader from our son; thanks
Style-see name; Dire Wolf is their base imperial stout
Format-half pint bottle; yep, 8 ounce bottle (no dating on label)

Nose-cognac and fudge
Mouthfeel-soft and sexy
Tastes-cognac, dark chocolate fudge generously lathered with espresso and vanilla, figs and raisins
Adjuncts-Madagascar vanilla beans and One Line Coffee’s Nicaragua La Isla espresso (for those coffee nerds on the board )
IBU-maybe 50 based on the style
ABV-10.8% (drank like 13-14%)
Overall impression-paired with a specialty cookie last pm, this was beyond fantastic; may I have a case, please?
Ymm, Beer rating-high cat 3; we need to have a Wolf’s Ridge vs Jackie O’s smackdown and enter a bottle or two of some Old Rugger and variants from Zaftig Brewing

Zombie Dust-Three Floyds Brewing
Not even close

Overall impression-this ain’t a pale ale with those stats and tastes, it’s a westie IPA and reminded me of SN’s classic Pale Ale
Ymm, Beer rating-low cat 3; appreciative but tired of the style as I’ve posted before but FFF does a really good job and sticks to their slogan “It’s Not Normal”

Re: Ymm, Beer!
red ferrari-The Veil Brewing
Close enough
Credit-trader from nrrrrvous; many, many thanks!!
Style-DIPA on the can but it’s really a NEDIPA
Format-pint can
Stemware-large wine glass
Appearance-wildly hazy yellowish orange; generous offwhite head
Nose-tropical fruit salad
Mouthfeel-mild bite, lots of soft
Tastes-OJ, mango, tangerine, cantaloupe and pineapple (amazingly juicy)
Hops-“50/50 with Mosaic and Galaxy hops” (vs “whiteferrari is hopped 50/50 with Citra and Galaxy”)
Adjuncts-none; 0; nada; zilch (and I believe this)
IBU-“no IBU” and I don’t believe this so will guess 40ish
ABV-8%
Overall impression-quick crazietalk search reveals I’ve never had a whiteferrari but I searched and found that I’d taste driven a “cheap” imitation, aka an Orange Miata; the redferrari was terrific
Ymm, Beer rating-mid cat 3, easy; so incredibly juicy, still fresh, hint of bitter and so easy to sip; still not tired of the NEIPA/NEDIPA styles

Mankini-Bill’s Brewing Company
Local. Sometimes.
Credit-fee for dog sitting for several days for our older daughter’s very large lab
Style-fruited, sour blonde, ale, that is
Format-pint can
Stampage-10/07/21
Stemware-large wine glass, again
Appearance-light purplish pinky; modest foam
Nose-strange fruits
Mouthfeel-made you pucker!
Tastes-not sure in a blind test I’d have guessed any of pomegranate, dragon fruit and pink guava
Adjuncts-^^^^
IBU-less than 10
ABV-6%
Overall impression-a kinda strange fruit assortment but it worked and paired well with a chicken, mixed greens, apples and mixed berries salad
Ymm, Beer rating-upper cat 2; would also make a good summer porch pounder and/or pair well with some fruited salsa’d seafood

Saison Dupont (draft)-Brasserie Dupont
Ummm, no.

Style-(world classic) saison/farmhouse ale
Format-gushing from the tap
Cupathy-yep, 8 oz plastic again

Nose-apples and pears
Mouthfeel-tingly
Tastes-fresh sliced Granny Smiths and D’Anjous with a small dash of white pepper and drop of orange

Ymm, Beer rating-mid cat 3; it’s not sexy and/or BA and/or high ABV but it may be one of the world’s oldest (and most copied) saisons; buy a 33 cl of this and any other saison you can find and side by side them and this would win many one on ones

Re: Ymm, Beer!
That's great! They make consistently good beers and can't recall a bad one I've ever had from that brewery. Their Hatchet, a coffee porter, is excellent.lawgrad91 wrote: ↑June 29th, 2022, 9:28 amOur former neighbor Austin, who claims the Rev LG and me as his second parents, works for Booneshine.
