Agreed, although I haven't had a chance to try Wise Man's yet. Shame on me.

Re: Ymm, Beer!
I perceived a decent amount of caramel/grain/bread though some of The Veil bitterness surprised me. Different palates, neither wrong.fuse wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2020, 6:40 amFully willing to admit it was my palate; what about Deathless do you think represented the Marzen style?devildeac wrote: ↑October 22nd, 2020, 10:25 pmDeathless-The Veil Brewing
Local if you're the delivery guy.
Credit-accfanfrom1970; thanks!!
Style-Marzen like lager
Format-there goes another 16 ounce aluminum tree
Numbers on bottom of can-09/23/2020 13:58:12
Glassware-Dogfish Head nonic pint
Appearance-clean, clear light/medium amber; moderate foam
Nose-toasted bread and almonds (not added)
Mouthfeel-German (have no idea what that means but that was my first thought )
Tastes-thin, caramel syrup, nut mix, herbal hops, toasted bread, hint of honey
IBU-30 to 40
ABV-5.5%
Overall impression-not one of my favorite Veil products but nicely represents the style
Ymm, Beer rating-mid/upper cat 2; happy to have had a full pint and guessing about $3.50 for the pint, almost cheap beer by Veil pricepoints
I’ll give it colour- it _looks_ like a Marzen.
Did not taste like any Marzen I’ve ever had.
Was an excellent beer nonetheless.

Veil Orange Miata
Rich head, hazy straw gold pour.
Smells like fresh squeezed orange juice.
Tastes like hoppy orange juice.
Super orange fruit bursting on the tongue finishes dry, orange pith and pine bitter.
Another outstanding beer from Veil.
Labeling it an IPA doesn’t do it justice.
Another Compass Rose Brew Crew delivery.
Super grateful, thank you!

I'm a fan of Duck Rabbit anything, but being "dark beer" specialist, I'm just not in my winter mode yet. (They've got their amber ale, of which I am a frequent drinker.)
I've been eyeing a few "winter sampler" packs from various breweries, but not pulling that trigger til November. Of course by that time, they'll have all been replaced with their Spring selections.

Duck Rabbit makes great beer, which I should buy more often.CameronBornAndBred wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2020, 6:26 pmI'm a fan of Duck Rabbit anything, but being "dark beer" specialist, I'm just not in my winter mode yet. (They've got their amber ale, of which I am a frequent drinker.)

Little Hoppy Bunny, their Black IPA, is my favorite.

Ardent Honey Ginger
First of four
Major hat tip to accfanfrom1970, and the Compass Rose Brew Crew!
Thin lacy head atop a clear copper hue.
Zesty ginger nose.
Wow. Wow. Wow.
Calling this a “ginger beer” doesn’t do it justice.
Amazing ginger flavour.
Wouldn’t turn down either, the first sip reinforces my memory that the non-BBA Honey Ginger is better than the BBA.
This is a rare opinion for me.
I could drink this all day, every day.

You sound like me. I usually don't drink a ton of "dark beers", with occasional exceptions, until it starts getting colder out. I was almost in that mood, then BAM, 80° weather hits. That is NC for you.CameronBornAndBred wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2020, 6:26 pmI'm a fan of Duck Rabbit anything, but being "dark beer" specialist, I'm just not in my winter mode yet. Fullsteam Brightfall
Minimal head, pale copper in colour.
Musty fall cider nose.
Really an interesting blend of cider and amber lager flavours.
Fall in a glass?
A lovely autumnal lager.

And the scary thing is each time you drink one of these it tastes even better than the last. Scary good everyday beer.fuse wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2020, 7:39 pmArdent Honey Ginger
