This was the 97,000th post in CTN history.wilson wrote:I finally had to break down and go buy a new wireless router today.
Despite my skepticism, setup was a breeze (less than 10 minutes), and my new connection thus far seems to be worlds better than the old one.
I will be taking a hammer to the old router this afternoon.
I even managed to get out of Target with the new wireless router and only the new wireless router.
All in all, a successful day so far (and yes, Tilly, I also changed my underwear).

Re: Milestones
I wonder why the post total and the actual number of posts don't match up. Maybe if someone posts, and then it's deleted, it still keeps the number up top? HellifIknow. The math between the two forums = 97000, but the total listed at the bottom is 96978.wilson wrote:This was the 97,000th post in CTN history.wilson wrote:I finally had to break down and go buy a new wireless router today.

Re: Milestones
Couldn't decide which one to use so I'll have a 2 subject post for #10,000.
First, your expected beer review (thanks to Lavabe for the suggestion but not the beer ):
Bells Batch 10,000 Ale-Bells Brewing
I think I read and interpreted the brewer's notes correctly and ascertained that this was made from 100 malts and other fermentables and 60 hop varieties added throughout the brewing process. This was $5 for a 10 ounce sample served in a Bell's snifter with a buffalo chicken sandwich (mild) and an order of Tyler's garlic fries. The ale won. In a landslide. It was a nearly black pour with a 1 finger head and the complexity is really hard to explain. There was a bit of toffee, dark-dried fruits, unsweetened chocolate and dark rum. The hops were dark flowers and herbal. I guess the best characterization would be an imperial stout but it also resembled an old, strong English ale. Not sure it is even available in bottles and was not in the Raleigh-Derm area after calling several shops. I am quite fortunate to have found it on draught at Tyler's Taproom pre-game today. An outstanding brew.
Second, a cover of a song that has become one of my all-time Springsteen favorites. Never previously released except on live CDs, he wrote it with Patti Smith and she had a hit with it back in 1978, IIRC. He just released The Promise, a 2 CD set of previously unreleased tracks from his Darkness on the Edge of Town sessions, and this song, along with Fire (a hit for the Pointer Sisters) are included. I found another video of this with Bruce and Patti Smith from the Rock and Roll HOF induction from 2009 but chose this video as I believe this is also a superb version. I present, Natalie Merchant and the 10,000 Maniacs MTV unplugged version of Because the Night:

Thank you for viewing and reading.
Respectfully submitted,

Congratulations on post #10,000. Glad to share the occasion of drinking the beer with you if not actually drinking the beer. And I loved the video!
Perhaps if your post count gets high enough, "they" will erect a statue of you. And then Earljam can come and give you a hug and post a picture of that ...

WOOT!!!
Re: Milestones
As I draw nearer to 4000 posts, I'm still totally at a loss as to what to do with the big post. It seems that there just aren't a lot of significant applications for that number.
Re: Milestones
We should hit 98,000 posts on CTN sometime today or tomorrow.
