Favorite Brand of Potato Chip?
I purchased some "Hot & Spicy" Chex Mix the other day and was very pissed at the results. While not technically a "chip" the things had very little flavor. Sometimes Lay's can be that way too. They have a bunch of new flavors of chips but they are often lacking in flavor. It sometimes makes me sad.
Now UTZ. Boy oh boy do I love me some UTZ!! The crab chips are to expire for!
I like my potato chips to burst with flavor. So with that, I ask you all, what is YOUR favorite brand of potato chip? What brand packs the most punch when it comes to flavor?
Discuss.

I prefer Hostess (same company as Frito Lay), Pringles, or Walker's (they are British and aren't widely available here in North America).
My absolute favourite North American chips are the BBQ Corn Chips from Frito lay.

I love Utz and Cape Cod. I think my absolute favorite are probably Cape Cod w/ Sea Salt and Vinegar. Though Utz Carolina BBQ flavor are a close second.

I like Pringles, but my favorite has always been Charlie's Chips, which my parents used to get delivered when I was a kid. They came in a yellow and brown tin.

Oh HELL yes! Carolina BBQ from UTZ. Quite possibly the best chip I've ever eaten in my life.DukeUsul wrote:I love Utz and Cape Cod. I think my absolute favorite are probably Cape Cod w/ Sea Salt and Vinegar. Though Utz Carolina BBQ flavor are a close second.

I remember those. I remember the truck too. Do they still deliver like that? Are they regional?bjornolf wrote:I like Pringles, but my favorite has always been Charlie's Chips, which my parents used to get delivered when I was a kid. They came in a yellow and brown tin.

Re: Favorite Brand of Potato Chip?
I FUCKING LOVE POTATO CHIPS. I could very happily subsist on them. If I am on the premises, there is no way that any container of chips, no matter how large, will last more than 36 hours.
I particularly like any kind of kettle-cooked chips (the super-crunchy, sort of toasted brown kind). I also adore Munchos, the sort of airy "crisps" that seem only to be available at the gas station.

My favorite was always Price & Englehart from the Penna Dutch Country. I don't think they make them anymore. Now I buy Utz and if they are not available, Cape Cod Kettle Cooked. One thing, though, I cannot abide by any flavoring in a potatoe chip. Potato, Oil & Salt. That is all there is in a real potatoe chip. The rest of the flavoring is crap!

I agree with all who say kettle chips are the best. With that being said, my current favorite chips are Terra Chips. Strictly speaking, they're vegetable chips, but they're good.
I think they have Utz potato chips in the vending machines at work.

Re: Favorite Brand of Potato Chip?
I don't buy potato chips any more. It's a moment on the lips, forever on the hips kind of thing for me. It's just best to keep them out of my house so that they don't make it to my plate and then to my mouth and then to my hips, stomach, fat arms, etc.,
I like the hot potato chips at Winslow's Tavern in downtown Greenville. They're the only food I like there.

Utz. We spent a year in Hanover PA and used to go to the factory store to get our chips. And to the pretzel place to get our pretzels. But it was PA so we also had to go to the beer store to get beer. Very inconvenient.
My current vice is (are??) the utz cheese balls. They are better then chester's all day.

I'm with CathyCA. Potato chips find me VERY attractive, and they want to stay with me forever.

How can you mention abominations like pretzels in the same thread as delicious, delicious chips?!?

I like the kettle chips the best. I, like Cathy, hardly ever buy them for the same reasons.
