So when they replaced the fuel pump, some gasoline was leaked in/below the cabin when they disconnected the lines? If the odor persists, I can neutralize it for you. If the odor persists, are you sure the connection is tight and it's not still leaking fuel? At $3.00+/gallon, that's an expensive leak, plus the fumes might kill you, or at least give you a helluva headache.lawgrad91 wrote:The mechanic said it was due to the location of the fuel pump, below the seat, maybe?OZZIE4DUKE wrote:Why does it smell like gasoline inside the car? If it was a spill (and the odor is still there) I'd love to see if the PortOzone http://www.greentechenv.com/portozone will get rid of the smell like I think it will - it does other chemical odors like ammonia or perfume.lawgrad91 wrote:And so to bed....
Driving Mom back to Chesapeake tomorrow. We can't fit all her stuff, her walker, and her, in the Mini without strapping her on top of the car, so I suppose we will take the repaired Saab, provided it no longer smells like gasoline after the windows stay open all night.
The fuel pump was what died on the car. The one that was replaced only lasted 216,000 miles. It was practically new.

Re: The Official "Good Night" Thread
We are home. Mom is back at her house, B is in front of the TV playing Assassin's Creed, and I have two puppies to myself. I am whipped. I might lurk awhile, but I may end up falling asleep on the computer.
The gasoline smell in the car was replaced by Mom's menthol cough drop scent about 40 miles into the trip. Now the car smells like, well, a car. Ozzie kindly offered to save me from the fumes, but the car managed to fumigate itself.
Nonetheless, props to Ozzie, who rocks.
Good night!

No way I'll be up to see the New Year come in. That's OK. I've seen many of them. The New Year will happen even if I'm asleep. And my head will not be hurting.
