I went to New Hanover High School. Our athletic teams used to play New Bern when I was in high school. We were in the same conference with Laney, Hoggard, Eastern Wayne, Southern Wayne, Goldsboro, Jacksonville, Kinston and New Bern High Schools. There weren't very many big high schools in the southeastern part of the state back then. I traveled a lot to New Bern with our football and basketball teams. I was a cheerleader and in the band.

It's a nice little town you have there on the water.

I live in Greenville now. We're practically neighbors, although I know 2 posters here who live closer to you than I do.
I play soccer and tennis (might switch to lacrosse this year) and we usually play New Hanover in preseason. Although this coming year we are switching to a new conference with New Hanover, Ashley, Laney, Hoggard, Rose, and us... No more easy games.
My grandparents live in Greenville, and are both hardcore Duke fans. One was a history professor at ECU until a few years ago. New Bern is a nice town :) I enjoy living here, even if some of my friends think it's too boring. Greenville seems like a nice place to live as well.
CellR, are your grandparents named Henry and Martha?

A lovely town indeed, except for having foisted Pepsi upon the world.

Haha, great! :D
That is really awesome that you know them, small world?

My mom grew up in Greenville, at Jarvis. I told her that you know her parents (she is a frequent lurker of DBR) and she wants to know your last name. I don't know if you would want to give that out on a message board, but PM me because she wants to know if she knows you :)

I suppose I've seen you before, because I've been to church with them a few times.

And, what are you talking about Cameronbornandbred? I don't get in trouble. [-(

I'm sending you a PM, although most everyone here knows my last name.

CellR, I sent you a PM, but it's stuck in my outbox. I don't know how long it's going to take to get to you, but check your message box later tonight.

CTN is a little weird with the PMs. I believe it sits in your outbox until the person reads it. THEN it goes to sent items. That way, you can delete the PM if you change your mind or even edit it before they get it. I tried to send one a while back, and I deleted it from the outbox, thinking it had already gone, but the person sent me a PM saying that they'd gotten a notice that they had a PM, but there was nothing there when they checked. It's not like an email or a PM over on DBR in that way, I guess. It's more like a "private" message board that only you and the recipient can see.

Wait! If you are talking about Henry and Martha at Jarvis United Methodist Church, it's a small world indeed, as I used to sing in the choir there from 1996-2000. I have lived in (Little) Washington since 2000.

Cathy - Did you sing in the Duke Chapel Choir? ('Cause I did from 1982-1989, and my older sister did before me, overlapping one year, and my younger brother did as well plus he sang in Pitchforks).

Yes, I'm talking about Henry and Martha from Jarvis UMC. I just returned from choir practice tonight, and I shared with them my story of meeting one of their grandsons here on CrazieTalk.

I sang in the Duke Chapel Choir from 1980-82. By my junior year, my job with basketball got in the way, so I dropped choir. Wednesday night games interfered with choir practice.

Small world!

John, what were you doing in Greenville?
