Chalk up another success for the crazietalk vibes.

My father was moved from the hospital to the rehab unit on Wednesday. They are working him very hard (a good thing) and he is already getting comfortable using the wheelchair. Despite his other health problems he has good upper body strength, so they anticipate no real difficulties with the crutches/walker. It will probably be a couple of months before he is fit and trained for a prosthetic leg. But the move to rehab, with the “more normal” existence it offers over a hospital, has done wonders for the confusion and depression.

Again, I really appreciate the support from folks on this board. It has meant more than you know.

Wolfpackdeviland I are hoping we’ll see some of you at the game tomorrow. We’re still not sure as to when we’ll arrive as time is still stretched thin by frequent trips from north Durham to WakeMed, but if we arrive in time we’ll stop by.

Reading this good progress report means just as much to us.

After a real upswing (out of the hospital and a move to re-hab to begin re-learning like skills sans right leg) my father's doctor grew concerned about how slowly the wound was healing. A culture revealed MRSA in the wound. In the words of my brother (who is employed in the health-care industry as a hospice administrator) when I asked how bad a turn of events this was, he said, "this is big time, run for the hills serious, major-league bad shit."

So, to paraphrase Oliver Twist, " Please, may Ihave some more (vibes, that is).

I think vibes are like zuchinni in a summer garden. You plant one and suddenly you have more than you know what to do with. So you bring them over to your neighbor's house. All my extra are heding your way!
