I quite enjoyed that article, thanks for linking it. And the author is right about Canadians, our support of racing (NASCAR, F1, IndyCar, etc.), and the fact that we deserve a race due to our continued support. Plus, we weren't hit nearly as hard by the recession as you folks were (for example, not a single one of our banks needed a cent in government support) so there is more corporate money available here for sponsorship and stuff.
The Canadian support for the NFL exhibition game is another matter completely, but I believe there's a clear record of support "north of the border."
However, I believe that a few places in the US would kvetch about it. Why Canada, instead of the America's Pacific Northwest? Colorado?
More importantly: who gives up a race?

That's the big problem. Well, that and the fact that they would currently be looking at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (if I spelled that wrong, I'm sorry), and there's no way NASCAR would add a third road course to the slate.
It was huge news in the Martinsville paper this week that they nearly lost one of their two races, but an infusion of money from the state and the Heritage Foundation (read: money extorted from the tobacco companies), plus begging from the Lt. Governor and other politicos, meant that the two races would stay. Supposedly there will be new concession stands and restrooms built.

Right now he's on the pole, but it's early. (Twelve have run.)

Regan Smith gets a 2-year extension with Furniture Row Racing.
I think Mr. Smith needs to make a LeBron-like announcement. ;)

@Tilly-a second installment.
Our Tilly has no use for Kurt,
Thinks he's quite a stuffed shirt.
Pointy-toed shin kicks,
Put him in a fix,
While she rubs his face in the dirt!
There it is; poetry in (very slow) motion....

I was wondering how long it would be until someone noticed that. When I first saw it being used as an avatar I thought there was a bug on my screen and tried to swat it away. Boy did I feel stupid! Then I found it funny and thought I might be able to fool some people here with it.

I like his avatar. Although just now I was scrolling up and only the bug was on my screen, I very nearly reached out to flick it away.

I start gagging when I see it. I'm not kidding when I state I really hate bugs. I had to kill a creepy crawly bug one morning and spent 5 minutes gagging over it.
