So I'm home now for three weeks before school starts... I can't believe the summer has gone by so fast. Haiti was absolutely amazing, as was working for five weeks at Camp Don Lee. I can't wait to go back next year!! Now I'm super excited for school to start. Scared to death, but so ready. :duke:

How has everyone else's summer been going?

I hope I haven't missed anything!

Thanks, bjornolf. My name over there is merlindevildog91. If you see one of my posts, (and mostly I've been posting on the Rick Pitino gone in 15 seconds and Bob Huggins threads), at the bottom of the post in the left hand corner, you'll see a little box with a green smilie face and a red frownie face. Click on that and it will give you the option to approve of a post or disapprove of a post, and to make comment. Put a comment there, and click "add comment" and theoretically the person about whom you comment will get more reputation points. But if you try to give points to the same person again over some period of time, it says you can't give that person reputation points until you spread some reputation around.

To check your own points, click at the top right corner of the screen on "settings" and it will tell you how many reputation points you have, and give you the comments, though not the names of the commenters.

Not quite, Oz. I have a 2004 Accord EX-V6, and it only has around 85K miles on it. It's probably good for another 100K or so. Moving to St. Louis really helped out in the wear and tear on my car. I don't put many miles on my car since I live halfway between work and church (around 1.5 mi to each). I typically walk/ride the train to/from work. If I still lived in central AR my car would easily have over 100K miles by now. I really don't miss the 40 mile round trip commute to work and church.

It's barely broken in! You should easily get another 100-150K miles out of it. :happy-bouncyblue:

BTW, I love the looks of the tail lights on the 2004 Accord. My Sonata is almost exactly the same, one of the reasons I bought it. True story.

I <3 my Accord. Best car ever. First car I bought new and paid for was a 1989 Corolla. Bought it when I was in grad school, so it was a pretty bare bones model. I kept it for 11 years, and it still had a lot of good miles in it when I sold it. This car was a huge splurge for me and has pretty much every feature I could ever want. Hopefully I'll be able to keep this car as long, or longer, than I kept the Corolla.

Yeah, the EX-V6 is much like the 94 Camry XLE V6 I had, and for that matter my decked out 2000 Maxima. Super performance, handling and comfort, leather seats and lots of bells and whistles. My Sonata is also a V6 and matches up well with the Maxima performance wise, but I skipped some of the bell$ and whi$tles this time - no leather seats, no moonroof.

I <3 my leather seats (with seat warmers) and moon roof. Wasn't sure about the seat warmers when I bought the car, but now I think they're great (not in the summer, of course). The Accord handles quite well - corners like it's on rails. It's such a pleasure to drive.

Watched a rerun of "Glee" this morning, and now the song "Defying Gravity" is running through my head. Has been all day. I'm ready to see "Wicked" again.

I bought a new guitar this week and she is freakin' gorgeous. Easily one of the most unique burst finishes I have ever seen. If I thought y'all were into guitar porn I'd post a bunch of photos.

She looks beautiful, plays like butter, sounds amazing, and has a great tonal range. This one is definitely a keeper - there is no way that I will ever sell her and she'll have to be pried out of my cold dead hands!

Ask and ye shall receive - but you'll have to click on the links because the photos are too large to be posted here. Once you click on the links you can click on the individual photos to see larger images (like I needed to tell that to anyone here!).

I'm a lousy photographer so they aren't great pictures (I have to get my sister-in-law, who is a professional photographer, to take some snaps of it for me) but they do give an idea what it looks like. What is so unique about this guitar is that, depending on the angle from which you view it, you can see either the grain in the wood or the burst finish (which also changes looks and form as you see it from different angles). Finally, this is one of the darkest bursts I've ever seen on a Fender Stratocaster - the colour goes from an orange/copper, to red, to brown, to black and that continues on the back before going light again in the middle of the back. She is definitely unique and an absolute keeper.

OMG, Colchar!! I have the same piece of furniture that's in your pictures! Mine is a whitewashed color, and I put it in my bathroom to hold towels and wash cloths.

I like your guitar, too.

Please tell me that it's NOT made with Madagascar rosewood. Here's a link regarding the Gibson guitar case:
http://news.mongabay.com/2009/11818-gibson.html
And here's a link talking about the effects of illegal rosewood logging in Madagascar:
http://blogs.nationalgeographic.com/blo ... trife.html

IIRC, Fender uses rosewood as well, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's from Madagascar. Brazilian rosewood is a little more expensive.
