I finally caved and did some research. It's gonna be a tough one to figure out with these clues unless you just happen to have those bits of trivia tucked away. Need more hintage.
Agreed. I would like to know: What year was this one hit/video? Was it hard rock? Pop? And perhaps give me one elemant of the video (not something so obvious that it will easily give it away).

It's rock/alternative rock. Circa 94-95. The singer died of a cocaine overdose. There is only one element of the video that cannot be shared, because it is too obvious of a give away. What could it bee?
"Bee?" Cocaine overdose? Alternative rock/rock? Feeling pretty good about this guess, especially with the first two clues:
Blind Melon? Can't remember the name of the lead singer. Hooth? Haith? Something with an H? Ron?

Ahhh maybe the "What could it bee?" slip/hint was too much. Me thinks you are correct.
Good one colchar.
Sorry to return to this thread late, but I was at my parent's place for a couple of days for my brother's wedding reception and I didn't have internet access.
Yes, Shannon Hoon from Blind Melon is the answer - his sister and Axl Rose were in the same grade at school and that is how Shannon knew him.

That's pretty funny about Blind Melon...I was going to post their performance of "No Rain" on SNL here...because it was badass. (Just couldn't find as good as quality vid as I liked) It helps to pause it, let the whole vid load, then hit play. It won't stutter that way. Here it is..

He is one of the reasons I play an SG (although I'm not a fan of that particular song)!
If you really want to be Angused, try to find a clip of Let There Be Rock from their live album If You Want Blood (You Got It). If you can't find a clip just listen to the song. Also Riff Raff will give anyone a good dose of Angus!

And finally, Angus and the boys at SARSTOCK in Toronto in 2003. I was stuck at work that day but my younger brother was 20-30 rows back from the stage and, surprisingly in a crowd of almost 500,000 people found himself standing within 20 feet of friends of mine.
In light of a documentary released today, I'm posting this as my all time trump card. Mr. Neil Peart The best there has ever been. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEVrN9Sd ... 1&index=34
Heck of a lot of characters, huh?
Why aren't these guys in the RnR HOF?
DD! The last minute of this was played for your benefit.
Sorry about all the advertisement.

I'm from Ontario and grew up ten minutes outside Toronto so Rush are a local band for me. Seen them on several occasions an the bond between them and Toronto audiences is always awesome.
