And that's probably at 11 PM. :(( :((
Actually, that was at 3:00 p.m. It was cooler in Phoenix yesterday afternoon than it was in North Carolina.

A series of severe thunderstorms rolling through the Triad over the past hour.....high winds that picked up suddenly, heavy rain obstructing vision and flooding roads, lots of thunder and lightning......There's a weather statement putting us on alert until 9P as more such storms are expected to roll through.

A repeat show tonight. A deck umbrella, off the side of the house, was bent 90 degrees off center. It just became colorful trash.

Just finished grilling dinner. Thunder in the distance, I think it's just ambient noise that will never turn into rain.

It is a very rare night indeed when I, EarlJam, have to pull off the road to a full stop in my car, waiting for the weather to pass. When I left work today, a storm was on my backdoor. My car themometer for the outdoors read 102 degrees. I ran into a storm on the way home. First, heavy rain. Then, winds and branches and flash flooding. Then pea sized hail. All this took place in about 25 minutes or so. The temperature dropped to 69 degrees. That's a 33 degree drop in 25 minutes. Unreal. I parked my car and sat out the storm. I had to. It was THAT bad.

Wow.

I spent last week riding my bicycle across Kansas with 860 of my closest friends. I came home to find 4.5 inches in my rain gauge. Between Saturday afternoon and Monday evening, I got another 4.5 inches. I haven't checked to see how much came down today. I think my garden is drowning.

It never rained at Merlin Manor today, though it looked bad enough when I got home that I didn't mow because I thought it would rain before I started. At least that's my story, and I'm sticking to it! There was a storm before I left work, though, and it was really dark when I left the office. I'm sure Martinsville took quite a beating after I left.

We had a most spectacular summer storm at the beach. Our house sits on a canal, facing west. Pat (Kelly's father) and I went out to the porch on the top floor and enjoyed a brilliant light storm in the distance. The sky was constantly illuminated and there were frequent streaks of lightning crawling through the clouds. After an hour, the thunder finally started, the sky turned black and gigantic rain drops started pelting the water. In about 20 seconds visibility dropped to about 10 feet. And in another 20 minutes it was all over.

We just had a storm but not a bad one. It rained hared for about 10 minutes. It appears to be stopping for now. We could use some more.

Storms rolled through again this afternoon. The best part was the double rainbow that was visible after the rain stopped.

If you can tell me how to get it too you, you can have some of our rain. By this point of June, we typically have just over 2 inches of rain. This year we have had just over 12 inches. I have had around 10 inches in the last 10 days.
