Well the move to California came in under $2,000, that was back in 2004. I rented the truck, packed it, towed my pickup behind on a flatbed and crashed at friends' houses on the way. It's a bit more difficult to calculate the cost of this move because I turned it into a two-week road-trip with lots of sight seeing and festivities which shouldn't count as a cost for the move and most importantly most of my personal belongings are still in California. When it's all said and done, it'll probably cost around somewhere between $5,000 - $6,000. And you like said in your follow-up, it was and will be worth every single penny.CathyCA wrote:How much did your move cost? Not counting 16 months of storage fees, my move from CA cost $11K.Miles wrote:I hate moving. I vowed to never move again, that is, to move myself. I was doing pretty good until I found out the cost for the cross-country move from California. My kitchen, dining room, and library are still in California. <sigh>colchar wrote:I'm back. Moving sucks but it went reasonably well. My new internet connection was installed today so I am back on line. Now y'all have to put up with me again. You have my sympathies ;)

Yay! After two months of being a slacker, I finally have an avatar!
Me on a zipline in Antigua, last fall. You can't really tell it, but the pink shirt I have on has Duke emblazoned across the front. It's one of the breast cancer awareness T's.

Sounds like a good story - care to enlighten those of us who missed the original posts about this and who are far too lazy to go searching for them?lawgrad91 wrote: Back from dealing with the crazy man. Actually, I hadn't said anything about him til this morning. This multi-convicted felon moved into our happy and pastoral county with his American Staffordshire Terriers (read: "pitbulls") and began wreaking havoc on his formerly happy and pastoral neighbors, who include a retired state trooper, a retired city police officer, a couple of current police officers and some other nice folks. About the time he began calling 911 to complain about the neighbors threatening him and videotaping his walks in the woods, he started calling our office and bugging various co-workers. He claims to be a Reverend and wore a big cross around his neck to court (memo: One thing Jesus would NOT do would be put up a sign that reads "NAME OF NEIGHBOR" is a poster child for AIDS and condom awareness").colchar wrote:Sounds like a good story - care to enlighten those of us who missed the original posts about this and who are far too lazy to go searching for them?lawgrad91 wrote: Back from dealing with the crazy man. Last week he called here and told our victim-witness director that she wasn't protecting him from the evil neighbors, and he was reporting her to the FBI and the Taliban. He made a statement that was a veiled threat about being the "last one standing" at the courthouse if he was of a mind to shoot people.
At this point he doesn't know my name, which is just as well. I think he's probably all mouth, but he's pretty creepy.
BTW, my first dog as an adult, the Writ of Certiorari, was a pitbull mix. I'm not casting aspersions on the breed, just the owner.
