Sorry you lost your Kindle. I have several friends who have iPads. They all love them. What's not to love? Enjoy your new toy!ArkieDukie wrote:Lost my Kindle in the airport yesterday (accidentally forgot it in the restroom; someone took it) and am thinking about replacing it with an iPad. Re: LTE 2.0
We got one as a joint Mothers Day/Fathers Day present. I would tell you I love it, but I can't pry it away from Mr. Lawgrad long enough to log much time with it! The book apps are very readable. Ours seems to have lots of games on it, for some reason. Sudoku for me fishing and Angry Birds and Traffic Control for the less geeky member of the family. The screen is very bright and clear. It doesn't have a USB port, but since none of the three on my laptop currently work, it's not all that big a deal to me at this juncture.ArkieDukie wrote:Lost my Kindle in the airport yesterday (accidentally forgot it in the restroom; someone took it) and am thinking about replacing it with an iPad. (Related computer geek note: does anyone know how to reinstall the USB drivers on a PC using the recovery disk without having to destroy everything on the hard drive? I have tried all the USB fixes I can find without success.)

Boo, I'm sorry to hear that. If you've got an Apple Store or Best Buy nearby, you can go pick one up and play with it for a while. Fair warning: I loathe the Apple Store and it's always been a painful experience for me because it's always crammed tighter than a can of sardines.ArkieDukie wrote:Lost my Kindle in the airport yesterday (accidentally forgot it in the restroom; someone took it) and am thinking about replacing it with an iPad. Have you considered The Nook from Barnes and Noble? Much like the Kindle but with extra benefits, more memory and more selections. Also, when you visit B&N with your Nook, you get coupons and other special offers automatically downloaded to your Nook when in the store. The price is about the same.

Really? I was always told it was peas and carrots. According to a quick search, it appears it can be either.ArkieDukie wrote:Nope - it's lima beans and corn.YmoBeThere wrote:No Kindles or iPads for me.

NURSING HOME BITCH UPDATE
Haloed sister has been moved out to local hospital facility. She didn't fool ALL the people.
Plus, the report filed by the First Mate to the management staff didn't hurt.
Thanks to the advisement from the legal types of CTN, justice has been served.

Re: LTE 2.0
I was very brave yesterday. I I got a DROID. I wasn't sold until the rep told me he uses it for his internet connection at NO cost. I was currently paying 30.00 a month. He showed me how to download the DROID software. I loaded it when I got home. You guessed right, I could not hook up. I called Version and was told there is no support for the internet to a pc...yet. This blew my socks off (that I wasn't wearing). This morning, I took the phone and my pc back. It took some doing but the rep going it up and running. This was done, not an a Version store, but at Costco. The activation fee is waved by Costco, I have all the accessories and am getting a free mail in rebate to hold the phone when I use it as a GPS, which that service is free. He said the reason Version won't tell about the website is because they, very soon, will come up the capability to hook the DROID with their system for customers to use the internet. . My connection is now so much faster than using the Blackberry for my modem.
