Great find!! Can't wait to read the review. No luck up here yet but I've been told that it'll reach MA this week (of course, I've heard that for several weeks now)...devildeac wrote:Found Nemesis at a small wine and beer shop in J'ville, NC this afternoon during a little beer hunting with CB&B.![]()

DD and decided while deciding on the Nemesis that if you ever can't login, you should try the name bluebeer. We might have changed it to match our pronunciation.bluebear wrote:Great find!! Re: Ymm, Beer!
Mighty Arrow Pale Ale-New Belgium Brewing-An American pale ale that doesn't taste like an IPA. But, then again, that may be why they brewed Ranger, an IPA ;) . This is a light to medium golden with a 1 finger head. Grassy and herbal with Cascade, Amarillo and Golden hops and a honey malt base (from the label). I'd guess the IBU to be 40-50 and the ABV is 6% so it is a nice brew to have with BBQ/grilled and lightly spiced fare. Good for a Saturday night tasting session, too ;)
. This was a trader from a drug rep from Raleigh last week, as was the Retro Red reviewed earlier today.

Re: Ymm, Beer!
New Belgium Brewing-Ranger IPA-Most enjoyable redition that is not overly bitter at 70 IBU and not overpowering at 6.5% ABV. The Simcoe, Cascade and Chinook hops (on the label) give this a bit of citrus and some herbal and grassy elements with a nicely blended malty balance. Modest head and a bit lighter color than I would expect (yellow-golden). Give me some rosemary chicken or lemon-pepper fish with this, some grilled veggies and a scoop of garlic-cheddar potatoes and I'll have a great meal. CB&B has one of these in today's trader and
will see one soon ;)

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Found a new store yesterday with lots of beers that I have yet to try along with some hard to find favorites (Ballast Point Sculpin was the prize of the haul)..
First up last night was Red Racer IPA by Central City Brewing..Another canned beer. Although not quite the same style, the guy at the beer store described it as an Oskar blues Dale clone but better. Pours a dark straw with a decent size head. Taste is heavy on the hops with strong pine and citrus. Somewhat bitter but there is a nice malt presence that adds some balance. Very crisp and easy drinking. Enjoyable and I'll likely buy more though I wouldn't consider it as good as Dale's, as I found it a bit thinner overall. 6.5 ABV..

Re: Ymm, Beer!
I had an awesome day yesterday, getting to catch up to DD over lunch, trading beers, then going to a homebrew shop and picking up a few things, and then discovering a great little wine and beer shop. I came home loaded, and am anxious to get to reviewing. The first one up is Lion Stout. Totally new one to me, this is a nice, smooth offering. Low bitterness, but enough to give you something to remember after you put the glass down, it's a medium bodied stout with an interesting sweetness. Not milk stout sweet, but noticeable. Very light coffee tones, color of the malts are more dominant than the flavors. High ABV...8%, and for what you get, this brew is a real value. I paid just under $3 at the small specialty shop, so I'm guessing at TW it would be around $2. I'd easliy buy a sixer of this to save if I saw it again.

I'll vouch for him. He had 2-3 glasses of sweet tea with lunch.
