I'm going to bed, but one last thought. Remember this isn't a DBR bashing site. I haven't seen any posts here that have "bashed" them, just wanted to quickly bring it up before it got there. As long as we offer sound criticisms, there is nothing wrong with that. RockyMtn's post is a perfect example of great criticism and reasoning. Also, while not critical, any posts aluding to the monkeys in Jumbo's ass will also be tolerated. Maybe they aren't monkeys, but something's up there.

After some shameless (well, more shameless than usual) PWing tonight, I finally reached 500 posts too (this one is post#501).

Man, I feel like low-man-on-the-totem-pole here, but I'll throw my meager numbers out there too.

DBR - 1211
CTN - 429
Total - 1640

There, I've said it. I'll now lapse into embarrassed silence.
Of course, as others have said, I had about 1000 or so on DBR in the decade before the switch. =((

Wow, you go to sleep and wake up and look what happens to the thread...

I just hope this isn't going to turn into a thread about John Wall.

Guess I need to sit down and collect my thoughts as well. But before I do that:

5294 posts on DBR pre-bizarre moderator comment
1 DBR post since (highlander's USO marathon run)

wilson: I guess that makes me Cliff.

Whatever the total is, it's a ridiculously large number.

888 on DBR
191 over here.

I thought I had more over there. I need to do more over here.

I never heard of the McGrupp board either. Too bad. Is it still around?

Yes. McGrupp had sent me a message before we had set up ours that we were welcome to check them out. I still moved ahead and set up crazietalk, but the reason their forum exists is very similar to the reasons ours exists.

rockymtn devil wrote:Because this thread became what it is...here's the Reader's Digest version of a private FB message I sent to a DBR mod (the one that annoyed me second most) several months back. I never received a response.

The claims that it's a "neighborhood bar" are baffling. Apparently I've only hung out at a different kind of "neighborhood bar". The bars that I frequent don't chastise you because you accidentally spilled a drink or happened to order a beer that they don't serve. At the DBR, such actions are fair game for being told what a moron you are--by a mod who apparently isn't subject to the lack of civility rules. In reality, the DBR desperately wants to be an exclusive club in which only people with the right jobs, clothes and girls on their arm get in. The problem is that it hasn't found out the best way to enforce that policy (and several moderators would fail its "basketball PhD" requirement). I suggested that the DBR require an application process to determine who is and is not worthy of posting (and who is and is not likely to--dare I say it--critique the powers that be). Posters' credentials would be reviewed by the mods prior to having an invite. And with less noise, the mods could get back to the mental masturbation that is discussing basketball as if it were an exact science (in which every answer must view Duke in a positive light or else be deemed "destructively negative"). I don't say this tongue-in-cheek. I fully believe it is the best way to achieve Duke basketball utopia sought out by the Duke Basketball Report, Limited Liability Company.

Oh yeah, I vote for calling it the DBR. That is what it is. I won't let the DBR's general counsel annoy me so much that I refuse to call it something else.
Thanks for sharing. Great stuff.

http://www.beggingtodiffer.com

I lurked there this morning. Their current topics range from PPB stuff (future of the Republican party, General Motors) to American Idol to Facebook to planning a gathering of their posters. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

I saw some names I recognized from DBR and some from here.

It looks like a nice place.

I agree with CathyCA. Glad to see some of the names from the old DBR. Genedoc's bee story is downright freaky.

Wow, they got people over there with like 10000 posts. Impressive. I know that averages out to only like 10 posts or so a day, but that's still a pretty impressive amount per day to keep up for four years. I doubt I could do that.
