Instead of listing top 10s for the decade, I thought I'd start of thread for people to simply post songs or albums from the past ten years that they've enjoyed and continue to enjoy. So, wander through your iTunes library and share your thoughts on this decade's music!
Right now I'm listening to Is This It by The Strokes. This album came out in the early fall of 2001, when I was a sophomore at Duke. It was THE album that got played, and played, and played, and played, no matter if we were drinking cheap 40s in our dorm or were out at a party. It was also the perfect album for what was an otherwise grim time (the album was released right around September 11, 2001, if not on that day). It's bubblegum pop for those who actually like their musicians to play instruments. A mere 30-minute jolt of jangly power chords and stories of getting drunk with friends and waking up the next morning next to a blonde (whose name you may or may not remember). For a college student, it was pretty much perfect music. Listening to it now, the music is still just as fun and inspiring. While it may not carry the same emotional weight as a contrast to the times, it's still incredibly listenable.

Once the Motion Picture Soundtrack by Glen Hansard of the Frames and Markéta Irglová.
Hansard is a master melody maker and has a powerful voice that soars through some tracks with uninhibited confidence, while quietly punctuating the remaining tracks with Markéta. The movie, a musical, was a real treat too. Superb songwriting, captivating melodies, and awesome emotion. One of my favorites.

WHy, yes, I think the 1st release of the DUMB CD was just a few short years ago, including bonus track #35. :roll:OZZIE4DUKE wrote:There was music released this decade? I had no idea.

I have extremely little music from this decade. Or the previous decade, come to think of it.
My favorite albums of this decade are probably Evanescence's two albums.
