DVD deals at Target.com...
Don't know if anyone is interested, but Target.com is having a $9.99 w/ free shipping deal on pre-orders of some DVDs. They include:
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Angels & Demons
Four Christmases
G-Force
My Sister's Keeper
Santa Buddies
Terminator Salvation
Julie & Julia
If anyone's thinking about buying these when they come out, $9.99 w/ free shipping seems like a pretty good deal to me. I was looking at Harry Potter, Four Christmases, G-Force (for the kids ;) ), and Terminator myself.

If they had the Bond movie or Star Trek on their list I'd be inclined to take advantage.bjornolf wrote:Don't know if anyone is interested, but Target.com is having a $9.99 w/ free shipping deal on pre-orders of some DVDs. They include:

Re: DVD deals at Target.com...
Am I the odd (wo)man out because I don't ever buy DVDs anymore? I just don't see the need to keep most movies* after I've seen them once; I have no space or interest for maintaining a media library for something I've watched and don't need to see again for a good long while.
Netflix has been a godsend for me, especially now with their on-demand movies available to stream to our tv via XBOX.
(*A few exceptions include - The Matrix, A Christmas Story, and the Original 3 Star Wars movies.)

Re: DVD deals at Target.com...
They actually did have Star Trek, but I figured nobody would read my post before this morning, when it releases and goes up. Sorry, I should have listed it. Amazon still has the Blu-Ray for $19.99 though, which I'm looking at. ;)TillyGalore wrote:If they had the Bond movie or Star Trek on their list I'd be inclined to take advantage.bjornolf wrote:Don't know if anyone is interested, but Target.com is having a $9.99 w/ free shipping deal on pre-orders of some DVDs. Wal-Mart.com lists the Blu-Ray at $19.96 this morning, but of course if you go to the store, you have to pay S+H.
Speaking of which, are you around this weekend, ? Tiep wants to have a movie night of Star Trek.

I'm having a serious dense-oid moment. How is the special listed on Target's web site? I didn't see anything.

It's only if you pre-order. The movie released today, so the special is over. That's why I said I didn't think anybody would read it in time to take advantage. Only the blu-ray special is still on. Hence, my apology earlier.

Re: DVD deals at Target.com...
I still collect DVDs.... well no DVDs anymore, but Blu Rays for special movies that I KNOW I'll watch over and over. The HD quality over satellite TV and over Netflix streaming still isn't as good as what you get on a disc. I know my DirecTV is still 1080p, but they compress a lot of the video on many of the channels, so it loses a lot. Nothing is as good as a well done Blu Ray. I also believe that Netflix only streams stereo sound - they don't include 5.1 or better surround sound, let alone TruHD sound or DTSHD sound like you get on a Blu Ray.
So for real special films that I want that high quality, I still buy the Blu Ray. I don't think my Blu Ray collection will ever be huge. But it will have good ones like Iron Man, The Fifth Element, Firefly, Serenity, the Harry Potter movies, Star Trek 1-6, Transformers, etc.

Re: DVD deals at Target.com...
Yea, I have a few Blu-Rays too: Fifth Element, Italian Job, Dark Knight, Top Gun (It was $10 at Wal-Mart and my wife had worn out our VHS copy). All but Dark Knight were on sale. I'm getting Star Trek today. Harry Potter, Transformers, and Iron Man we already have on DVD. Unfortunately, my entertainment system sucks, so the sound really doesn't matter. The picture looks pretty nice on my TV, even though it's older and only 1080i (like with me, what it lacks in quality, it makes up for in size at 65" ;) ).DukeUsul wrote:I still collect DVDs.... well no DVDs anymore, but Blu Rays for special movies that I KNOW I'll watch over and over. Re: DVD deals at Target.com...
Bjornolf - I am around and have my kiddos, but I believe I am not sure what the weekend has in store yet. Friday night probably isn't good and my daughter isn't to much into Star Trek like my lil man. Saturday not sure what we are doing yet. I know we are celebrating my brother inlaw's birthday on Sunday after church.bjornolf wrote:Wal-Mart.com lists the Blu-Ray at $19.96 this morning, but of course if you go to the store, you have to pay S+H.
