smallish vibe request
I think I've been swined.
It came on last Wednesday, just a horrible headache & overall body ache, so I went home and slept, stayed home one more day, and felt fine. Sunday, it came back; I tried to go to work Monday, left early, Tuesday, left early, and have been home since. I wake up feeling fine, but around 11AM, the headache, body ache, and the need to just LIE DOWN AND NAP comes crushing down, and I generally feel ill for the rest of the day. I've also felt feverish the past two days, but the DA household is sans thermometer, so I don't really know for certain.
More vibes are definitely needed elsewhere, and I feel silly for asking, but dammit, I need something more powerful than I can summon myself, to help kick this virus to the curb. (Thanks to Tilly for already sending some!)

Never feel silly for asking for vibes. Sending vibes and prayers that you are back to feeling 110% in no time. You have things to do - cheer for the Devils, go diving, drink a hot buttered rum.DevilAlumna wrote:I think I've been swined.

First, I hope you feel better, but I find this Interesting! I have been wondering how the Doctor's have been diagnosing between regular and swine flu and have still been miffed. So, as I was thinking about all this on the way in TRAFFIC tonight, the question of how you can tell came up on WTOP news.... and they said, the swine flu doesn't incubate or take time to develop, it happens almost immediately within hours....... you have a 103+ temperature in no time and then you are wiped out... I haven't done alot of research into this so I can discern appropriately between fact and fiction, but I thought I might offer what I've heard without validation. If AD can stop partying in Baltimore for a couple of minutes, she might be able to add some insights on at least this uneducated individual..... ;)CathyCA wrote:Sending you some of my vaccine vibes to vanquish the virulent virus. I'm sending vibes, too, while I'm getting over it. It's going to run its own course. Don't be surprised at the way it gets better then seems to return. That's the way it works.

Re: smallish vibe request
The only way to truly identify swine versus seasonal flu is to do a test. But, since both are essentially treated the same way, it's a waste to do the test. At least that is my theory. I've had 2 students with "flu-like" symptoms. Best guess is it's swine since seasonal flu hasn't started.cl15876 wrote:First, I hope you feel better, but I find this Interesting! Hang in there, DA. Sure hope you feel better soon. Stevo had the swine flu last July and it took him a long time to recover.
Honor is correct, both types of flu are treated the same way. I will suggest that if you experience difficulty breathing that you get seen ASAP. Otherwise, rest, hydrate, rest, hydrate, pee, pee, pee

I'm going to use my 1000th post to send vibes to you, DevilAlumna, for a rapid recovery from the swine flu. Your symptoms sound exactly like mine from a couple of months ago. Lots of sleep is about the only thing you can do. Follow DukePA's advice and you can't go wrong. I ended up with antibiotics; any time I have any sort of respiratory bug it morphs into an infection. Here's hoping you don't have that problem, but it sounds like you might. Of course, there are certain signs that an antibiotic is needed, but I won't go into the graphic description here.
Oh, and a joke from the ER: Do you feel the need to roll in barbecue sauce? If so, you may have the swine flu. (I can't take credit for this one. A co-worker's husband is an ER doc.)

Most people say that is it is the intellect which makes a great scientist. They are wrong: it is character.

No vibe request is too smallish!!!! Here's a boatload coming your way from the Dump on the Hump!!! Keep us posted on your condition as this thing develops and subsides. What a great and thoughtful 1000th post!
