Your favorite Bagel flavor

Post by Lavabe » October 24th, 2009, 1:20 pm

Yep... what is your favorite flavor of bagel?

Please note: I was limited to 10 choices, otherwise I would have put in raisin or blueberry.

And NO bialys in this thread!!

My absolute favourite flavour is maple but they are hard to find lately. I also love chocolate chip as well as cinnamon raisin. I tend to eat everything bagels more often than others as they are great when covered in herb & garlic cream cheese.

Perhaps we should have a separate poll for sweet or specialty bagel flavors. MAPLE? Hmm... sounds REALLY nice.

I voted everything, but I like most of them. I almost voted plain because I like those too! And cinnamon raisen! I love to smother them in a thick coating of Philly creme cheese, the thicker the better! And sometimes, just toasted with butter or margarine on it. A fresh bagel is great untoasted with margarine (I like the salty flavoring it gives it!).

1) Everything bagel, toasted with butter.

2) Choco-chip bagel, also toasted with butter.

3) Plain bagel, toasted with cream cheese, cucumber, tomato & red onion.

It's so easy, and so delicious. My Boston Irish father, who has no "idear" how to pronounce bagel correctly (bag - ul, where "bag" sounds like the thing you carry stuff in) made em this way for us growing up, and I still love it.

Heat frying pan over medium heat.
Slice bagel in half normally.
Slather both halves with real butter.
Place buttered sides down in skillet. Place a medium sized pot on top of bagels.
Pan fry until browned.
Eat.

Sooooo good!

This is my favorite way to eat a bagel. I don't like cream cheese or lox or any other topping.
