Got an interesting phone call tonight from my older sister. She wanted to know what she should tell my 18-yr-old niece (a HS senior) to convince her that she doesn't want to go to Yale. One of her friends is going there and wants my niece to go visit with her. My answer was high crime rate, followed by indebtedness after graduation. With that being said, I have a philosophical question: would an honors student with a 28 ACT score from a small school in MO be able to handle a place like Yale? Am I awful for thinking that she's not up for it and/or does't have what it takes? Honestly, I don't know if she's prepared for Ivy Leage. I know I wouldn't have been afer high school. Does that sound awful?
Most people say that is it is the intellect which makes a great scientist. They are wrong: it is character.

No - you sound like a concerned aunt. And sometimes, you have to let them try their wings and just be prepared to catch them if they fall.

Why teams have a pretty good shot with the Yankees in a short series?

Because CC can't pitch every game.

Actually, a high schooler announcing where he will go to college. He was supposed to tweet a couple weeks ago but was a no show.
I think I read somewhere that he tweeted. But it might have been another twick! ;)
Check out the Stadium. Apparently no twick, just a tweet. He did it on ESPNU just after 530 PM. :D

And with 9min left - it is down to a 1 point lead. How sad! :))
When I checked in on this game, carolina was up 24-6 in the 3rd quarter. Now, with 13 seconds left FSU is up 30-27. One last gasp play... incomplete. OK, 6 seconds left. Damn, a roughing the passer call on FSU, now on the carolina 47, 53 yards to a TD. Incomplete again, 1 second left.
The reviewed play looked like a f$u TD to me. I don't believe that ball ever touched the ground. Good thing it didn't lead to a pull-it-out-of-their-a-holes-win for the baby blues. I'm sure not an f$u fan but sure love seeing 50K+ holes fans go home 0-3 in the new and improved ACC with tears on their faces and the growing desire to see their coach fired. :)) :)) =)) =))

Tell her to do what I did. Visit the campus on a cold rainy day. What an awful place.

I find dead crickets around the house. The cats like to play with the crickets. Cats don't know their own strength.
