How about "for all intensive purposes," rather than "for all intents and purposes"?
This is similar to a well know piece of furniture that get mispronounced continually.
The 'Chest of Drawers' that many call a 'Chester Drawers'. ACK!
I never put a new finish on Chester's underwear. :twitch:

I live in Kansas so I agree with your words - even before Roy moved back to UNC.

Actually, I think it's all just Alanis Morrisette's meta-narrative on the whole thing. I mean, after all, an entire song about irony which universally misapplies the term "irony" is pretty fucking ironic.

that's so funny! I remember when I was a little girl I really did think it was "chester drawers". I also thought it was "up on the house top reindeer 'PAWS' "!! bless my dumb, little 5-year-old heart!

Isn't it a bummer, don't ya thank?

Rain on your wedding day? Bummer.
A free ride when you've already paid? Bummer.
Meeting the man of your dreams and his beautiful wife? Bummer.

Although wilson does have a point.

Wait a minute! If we're not singing about those little reindeer paws going pitter patter on the roof, then what are we singing about? :cat:

Getting off topic was never goofier! =)) I've never seen a reindeer with paws. In fact, I guess i've never seen a reindeer at all, but I'm sure they have hooves instead and they "pause" on the the rooftop so out can jump "Claus"....I guess as opposed to "claws".

Oh, I'm tired now and my sides hurt.

I've just thought about it, and I've diagrammed the verse, and it MUST be "Up on the housetop, reindeer pause. . ." to let "good old Santa Claus" jump out of the sleigh. I always thought it was little reindeer paws making noise on the roof.

In "The Night Before Christmas," the narrator states, "And then in a twinkling I heard on the roof, the prancing and pawing of each little hoof." So, there were PAWS on the roof in at least one Christmas story or song!

As former DBArr! :Pirate: :ar! and current CTN Head Elf, I can definitively confirm that it's "Up on the housetop, reindeer pause."
CB&B, I know you said we weren't getting any more smilies for a while, but we really need some Christmas ones.
And some Muppets ones.
