So, one of my two 5 yr old cats managed to wander over to the next property (we live in the middle of 120 acres) and some people visiting the other house kept her and fed her for a couple of days. We searched for her, of course, but only managed to get her back after the vets called saying that she had been dropped off at the clinic; she's microchipped and tagged, btw.
Should I be keeping her inside for the foreseeable future? She's never strayed before; we were out in the garden and I thought she was hiding and playing. Since we're in the boondocks we've never been too strict about locking them up, only at night. Her sister is fine, and right here looking at me. They are 1/2 Siamese, pound cats.
I'm afraid the Wanderer will now be tempted to keep trekking

I'd keep letting her out. She will drive you crazy if you don't. I'd also get a name tag with your phone number. It takes out the vet as a middleman.

Great suggestion! If I could, let BD talk to her, I hear that she quit hanging out at bars! I am sure she will bring sanity to your precious.... as WE ALL KNOW there are all kinds of Tom's out there just waiting for .... Well, I don't need to go any further!!!! I for one, have no idea where the local bars are... except down in Georgetown (DC Area) and IT's BEEN a LONG TIME (a few decades, yes I was under age! ) since I went there and it was once or twice and got my car towed and impounded so I never returned! Meeting the kitty was not worth that ARSS whipping that I would always end up with from my caring and loving Father!!!! ;)CameronBornAndBred wrote:....I'd also get a name tag with your phone number. The Cat Whisperer does wonders.
I would tell whoever lives in the nearby house to send the cat on her way next time (by calling you), without feeding her. I know one of my cats pretty much lives down the street now at someone else's house. I probably haven't seen her in about 6 months. Luckily, one of them decided to stay at my house, and we got an inside cat.
