Still haven't heard back from most of the folks I PM'ed over yonder. Glad dpslaw signed on but sorry he won't be at many games this year. :(

Really sorry to hear that, Sue. Seriously rooting for happier news to find your doorstep soon.
What wilson said. I was in your shoes myself not so long ago - about a year and a half ago, to be exact. Here's hoping that you get a phone call similar to the one I got. (A "Hey, how would you like to come work for us?" call.)

Tent Rules

Post by OZZIE4DUKE » August 24th, 2009, 4:12 pm

Got this in an email today
It’s me again. I have been asked a few questions and wanted to get my answer in case you were wondering the same.

What is allowed at your tailgate tent? You can bring whatever you want and actually we are encouraging you to bring games, grills, tables, chairs and of course coolers full of …. you can be the judge of that. For the first game the tents will be ready for everyone at 12 noon. We will be taking them down in the third quarter, so if you come out at half time they will still be up but please be aware that the tent will be taken down when you come out after the game. So please put any valuable items into your vehicle.

We will have a live band playing every game, we have upgraded our sound so you will be able to hear them play. If you want to bring your own music and speakers etc. feel free. I will also have weights on the tent legs just in case it gets a little gusty, so no need to bring any weights.

I will need everyone to bring their own trash bags for their tent. There will be no power source available but if you would like to use a generator that is ok with me. I have also attached the final order of your tents for the 2009 season and the final draft of everyone’s banner.

I am really looking forward to September 5th and seeing this in action.
Just thought y'all would want to know. Maybe we should start earlier than 3 pm?

Also, I asked about bringing the additional tent. Here's his answer.
if you want to bring it for game one don’t set it up until later in the day after I see what room we have.

Does this work?
Basically what I said - bring it but let's see if there is room (and a need) for it before we set it up.

We should be there by 4 PM, perhaps a bit earlier. If any folks arrived earlier, that would be great, too.

Great, thanks very much Ozzie for the update and the inquiry. Hell, we can be there at noon!? I won't be there that early, but I will be there before 4. Maybe 3 or so. I'll be leaving in the morning and am going to visit my parents for lunch, and then I'm gonna visit Total Wine. :D

Here's another thing I can bring. A cooler full of ice and only ice. Just thinking it might be handy, we will be melted and the drinks will be hot going so early. I'll be parking in the Wannamaker lots, so if anyone volunteers to occasionly help tote something over, you're awesome.

I'm not sure you can park in the Wannamaker Lots. It looks like parking passes only.

The Card Gym Lot, off of Towerview, between the dorms and K'ville/Cameron/Card/Wallace Wade Stadium.

The game starts at 7 pm edt.

Y'all be amateurs. True tailgaters would start before noon. 2pm at the latest for a 7pm game.

Amateurs. Sheesh.

We need guidance, come show us how the pros do it. I would start earlier, but I don't want to be passed out by kickoff.

My thoughts exactly. Especially considering, it's hot AND humid this time of year.
