Nothing really cool happened in 1500. But it's a nice even number, and it was a leap year. So a bunch of people born that year on February 29th didn't have a birthday for another 4 years. Some guy named Diogo Dias was the first European to see Madagascar. The lemurs have been screwed ever since.
