The easiest way is to just assign the sides to equal a length of 4 on the big square. If you do that, then the sides of the outer shaded triangles will each be two. If you pair these outer triangles, you can make two squares with sides of 2. You get a third square with sides of 2 because the INNER square has to have sides that are half the length of those in the outer square by the definition of the problem. So, three squares with sides of 2 means you have 2x2+2x2+2x2=12. The big square is 4x4=16. 12/16=3/4=75%. Maybe that's MORE complicated, I don't know.
