Other than Sami's, is there a good place to get corned beef and pastrami around here?
I'll defer to Ozzie about CB/pastrami and Sami's. I'd bet the answer is that Sami's doesn't serve CB/pastrami. Several years ago, I did have a CB sammich at Jason's Deli. It was large and the CB was relatively good but not even close to NYC stuff. I'll have to try it again some time soon. I'd bet it would be about a 4-5F on the 9F rating scale.
Maybe I'm confusing Sami's with some other delicacy. Philly Cheesesteak perhaps.
Yes, Sami's is for Cheesesteaks, lasagna and pizza. No corned beef nor pastrami.
Gandolfo's Deli, which is a locally owned chain in the area, has pastrami. I like their King of Queens sandwich - pastrami, cole slaw and Russian dressing on a kaiser roll. But it is not in the same class of Carnegie, Chutzpah, etc. I'll have to wait until a brunchgate to get a taste of DD's freezer goodies, then the Gonzaga game for the real thing fresh! (take out orders will be taken, up to a limit... 8-) )

I believe you are...
Jersey Mike's are good.
Philly Steak and Cheese at the corner of Millbrook and Atlantic in Raleigh makes pretty good ones also.

Probably. I might want to stop on the way up Friday night. Of course, I'd be "empty coolered" at that point. I'll have to stop back on Sunday afternoon long enough to make the delivery, too!
And Tilley, your order is assumed. What you want can be specified later!

Good catch, wilson.

Gee... and no comment from the cardiologist about the Lexington place that serves both Carnegie meat sandwiches and H&H bagels.

Today, I am sampling Lexington's own Giacomo's Deli, featuring meats from the Carnegie Deli. Will see just how much of an imitation it is. Hopefully, it is.

More detailed review to follow, but simply stated, on Ozzie's 9F scale of pastrami, Giacomo's rates a 6F.
YUMM-O!! Made even better by a Carnegie sour pickle.

I flippin' love pickles. I've especially taken a liking to them in the past year or two. I actually really like Publix brand hamburger dill chips...put
lots of them on all kinds of sandwiches.
Anybody got any recommendations on any reasonably widely available gourmet-like pickles (dill,
not sweet)?

This has been thrashed out by devildeac & Sue... Bubbies Pickles.
Dill is nice. Sour is better. Garlic is nice, as is Bread ^ Butter sweets. I like sour pickles the most.
