I’m going to trellis long beans this morning before it gets too hot.

I harvested my first eggplant and cucumber of the season this afternoon. Garden is starting to pick up momentum.

I’m in full “can’t pick ‘em quick enough” tomato season. Made some killer gazpacho over the weekend.

I’m looking forward to getting there. So far, I have only harvested a few cherry tomatoes. My vines are full but the tomatoes are still green.

Saturday morning harvest: one cucumber and nine squash.

The heat is taking a toll on my garden. It hasn’t rained in forever and no matter that I’m watering everyday it isn’t the same as a nice rainstorm.

I harvested a bunch of okra this morning. Okra loves the heat.

I’m picking cherry tomatoes and cutting okra every day now.

I’ve grown through everything here, although neighbor just brought over tomatoes. Which is nice.

I’m late getting my garden going this year. I have yellow straightneck and pattypan squash seedlings looking good in peat pots. These are from seeds I bought from Hoss Tools in Georgia. If anyone needs to purchase seeds, I strongly endorse Hoss Tools.

This morning Flora and I went to Norfolk County Feed and Seed and picked up some SunGold Cherry tomatoes, Roma tomatoes, Zucchini and Asian eggplant starter plants.

I also have Asian eggplant seeds in peat pots from seeds Flora brought back from the Philippines but they have not germinated to date.

I am currently taking a break after rototilling and weeding my main garden plot. Starter plants are going in the ground later this afternoon. Next week the plan is to get okra seeds planted in my second plot, which is overrun with weeds so little boy Bob is going to be busy.

I’m sorta late too and somewhat limited on veggies — Roma tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, poblanos, green peppers, snap peas, romaine (red and green). Planted marigolds(supposedly good for insect control with tomatoes) and some blue/purple things I should know what they are but do not. Full herb line-up (dill, mint, chives, sage, rosemary, oregano, parsley, thyme, basil, and some catnip for the lill’uns). All in pots.

That sounds great, Bob. We're taking a garden hiatus this year to focus on the new house we're building as well as getting the current ready for sale, but I'm putting in a pollinator garden on one of the two lots we bought. A whole bunch of mixed sunflowers along with milkweed and other treats for the butterflies and bees.

Some of them are also treats for the deer that live on the property, so I've got TONS of marigolds and other deer resistant plants. I started many of the flowers in my greenhouse, and am working on getting them transplanted this week.

Selling and buying a new house is a lot of work so a garden hiatus makes sense.

My patty pan and yellow straight neck squash will be transplanted from pots to the ground today. Eggplant and cucumber seeds have germinated.
