Isn’t she also suffering from dementia?

I don’t blame the Rs here, and if I was a Californian I would be pissed. She is past prime, and if you can’t do your job it is not a matter of Senatorial Courtesy.
According to some reports, but HIPAA and all that. If true, a removal from office, one way or the other would be appropriate. I don't care what side of the aisle you are on, you cannot represent our country in government (and with classified knowledge) in that capacity.
You have my thoughts for your well being, but not my support for your position.
The situation is a big mess. The other less urgent issue is that especially if Trump is not the Republican nominee and it is someone younger, the Republicans can use this against Biden if he runs again in 2024 - elect an older person and you could get stuck with them if things go downhill.

Didn't Strom Thurmond and some others basically get wheeled into the Senate and vote Weekend at Bernie's style with someone raising their hand for them?

I don't really fault the Republicans for this but at the same time I thought the rules had been updated during covid where you didn't always have to be physically present to vote?

Thurmond did indeed "vote" from a gurney.

The House had that “voting by proxy” rule during COVID; Rs decried it and I believe McCarthy repealed it in his initial rules package.

I don’t think the Senate ever had that rule but I could be wrong.

Glad they got some money but the American citizens got nothing. Hopefully there will be some apology but it doesn't do much.

Tucker Carlson opens tonight's show with
"Our bad".
And then introduces Jim Jordan and asks about why Bragg is such a horrible human being.

Thank you for taking one for the team and watching that garbage.

I'm glad that with everything going on in our country today that Jim Jordan is spending so much time concerning himself with the behavior of a lawyer far from his jurisdiction. Bragg was elected to this position (full disclosure - I live in NYC but didn't vote for him - I voted for someone else and if there was ranked choice voting I think I would have had him about third). The endless sucking up to Trump is truly out of control.

LOL. Based on this from the NY Times, Tucker and crew don't even have to do that much:

"Under the terms of the settlement, Fox News will not have to apologize or admit to spreading false claims on network programming, according to a person familiar with the details of the agreement."

Joe BIden finally has some competition. Another old white guy. His wife on board, which is a plus. It's never a good idea to run when she's not into it. (Hear that, DJT?!)
The 69-year-old nephew of late President John F. Kennedy and son of late U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to run as a Democratic candidate for president in 2024 earlier this month. Kennedy's father was assassinated while seeking the Democratic presidential nomination in 1968.

RFK Jr. made his official announcement at a noon press conference on Wednesday.

If he weren't a Kennedy, this wouldn't have even made the news.

I question the political wisdom of issuing an executive order broadly widening immigration. It's been a touchstone Republican issue, but hasn't been a big motivator for Democrats. Why stride boldly into the lion's den?

Posted in response to this NYT article, though the article doesn't make it clear when the policy actually was expanded.

This could just as easily go in the "Good Morning Thread".
Tucker Carlson has parted ways with Fox News, the network said on Monday.

“We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” the network said in a statement.
Carlson’s last show was Friday, the network said.

So, like Lemon, Carlson wasn't fired for being dishonest, but for being a scummy human being. Murdoch and the board apparently kicked him out due to the pending lawsuit filed by fired ex producer Abby Grossberg.

That’s called “damage control” — they must think a big bag o’ liability is coming down the pike.

Heh.

Is this one of those moments where we are supposed to say "thoughts and prayers"?

Good riddance to Tucker. Though I'm sure he will land very comfortably elsewhere. Worst case he can help sell pillows.
