Jim Sumner on the scrimmage:

I subscribed and shared his news to our FB page.

This is a bit odd, to me.
So, the media have been asked not to even speculate about anything resembling a depth chart, to not even note that a particular player is practicing with the first team or the second team or whatever.
I'd love to know how that's even supposed to work. Reporters aren't famous for intentionally not reporting what they see. And they also aren't famous for even being asked to not report.

Duke hosts media day:

I’m really impressed by Offensive Coordinator Kevin Johns. He comes across as extremely confident and grounded.

In the past Duke has made free tickets available to the military for a single game, but I don't remember them doing it for a whole season. This is an excellent idea, and is available to first responders as well.
Military and First Responders are getting a new home for the 2022 season. This year, the newly rebranded Heroes Zone will put our brave men and women in the closest seats to the field with a new section right in the front rows of the North Endzone. Thanks to the generosity of Duke Football fans, hundreds of tickets have been pre-purchased to be distributed to these groups for the following games on a first-come, first-serve basis:

Jim Sumner's 2nd article is up.
Well, one question seems to have been answered.

Duke football had its second fall scrimmage Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils used four quarterbacks. In alphabetical order, they are Henry Belin IV, Ty Lenhart, Riley Leonard and Gavin Spurrier.

Jordan Moore? He made all of his appearances at wide receiver, where he seems to have joined Luca Diamont in the quarterback-turned-receiver cohort.

Great article by Jim. I came here to post a link but Chris already has it linked. Looks like Riley Leonard is our QB.

Jim Sumner on the defense:

https://jimsumner.substack.com/p/dukes- ... -challenge
Two quotes. One is depressing, yet "Duh", while the other is much more promising.
Duke wasn’t very good at tackling last season. Actually Duke wasn’t very good at any aspect of defensive football season.
X(
Good coaches have to be good teachers and Mike Elko prioritized bringing in good teachers to his staff, teachers with experience and success.

Duke defensive back Brandon Johnson says this teaching is paying off.

“I think as a whole the defense has taken great leaps in tackling and I think we’re just getting better through every practice.”
:ymhug:

Much more optimistic. :wizard:

Riley Leonard is QB1:

https://goduke.com/news/2022/8/28/footb ... ng-qb.aspx

Not surprising to me because the offense has to throw the ball. Moore is a runner and I am sure the staff has a plan to get him the ball in space.

Depth Chart:

Gonna be reeaal confusing to have two Samir Hagans on the roster: one as WR at 5-10, 195 and the other as KOR at 6-4, 258.

Prediction: Duke 35, Temple 14

As I posted a couple times, OC Kevin Johns is impressive. I believe the offense will click on Friday night.

Jim Sumner: three keys to beating Temple

https://jimsumner.substack.com/p/three- ... ing-temple

Two more:

1. Red Zone possessions - we have to come away with TDs
2. Defensive line performance - stop Temple from running between the tackles and create a pass rush

Duke 30, Temple 0

Defense was stifling, offense was dynamic.
