Two days late, but still extremely smile worthy!

Graduate student Tess Boade scored in the 55th minute and junior Ruthie Jones made six saves in goal as No. 4 Duke defeated No. 2 North Carolina, 1-0, on Friday night for its first win over the Tar Heels since 2015.
The Blue Devils picked up a marquee win in a top-five battle in front of a sold out Dorrance Field and improved to 7-0-0 (1-0-0 ACC) for the second time in program history. The victory was Duke's fifth all-time against an opponent ranked No. 2 or higher in the United Soccer Coaches poll.

Worth mentioning that this was the first in-conference loss for the ladies in icky blue since 2017, and the first victory by Duke against them since 2015. It is also worth mentioning that the icky blue team had never lost, and had never even drawn a game, on that field since it opened. a 23-game winning streak snapped in front of a sold-out light blue house on a field named after their coach.

I don't think there's a sweeter victory than that.

OK, the caveat is that yesterday the uNC women's soccer team didn't actually lose on the field - in fact, they pummeled Miami 4-1. However, other things did not break right for them on the day, and for the first time in the history of the ACC Women's Soccer Tournament, it will be entirely free of ugly blue. That seems well worthy of a 9F!
