Re: Ymm, Beer!
From 5/12/20:
"Zeitghost-Casita Cerveceria/New Anthem Beer Project collaboration
somewhat east of local
Credit-I needed a couple more cans to complete my mixed case last month and get 15% off; breweries ain’t too shabby either
Style-West Coast IPA (uh-oh)
How old izzit-32420 stamped just below top rim
Format-1/8 gallon aluminum cell
Glassware-standard pint glass
Appearance-yellow gold with a slight haze; billowy head
Up your nose-dank; pine and resin; grapefruit
On the tongue-about as bitter as anticipated
Down the esophagus-orange and grapefruit rind; piney/resiny/danky
Grains-2 Row, Carapils, Crystal 20
Hops-Simcoe, Amarillo and the 3 Cs: Centennial, Chinook and Columbus
How bitter-probably 60+ IBUs
How potent-7.6% ABV
Overall impression-I had my reservations but couldn’t resist a collaboration brew from these two breweries; really well done
Ymm, Beer rating-knocking on the door for cat 3; I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed/appreciated this as I tired of West Coast IPAs a couple years ago"
Tonight was a half pint draft in a cheapass plastic cup but all the above jargon still applies except a device rep treated and this was a low cat 3 now and I really enjoyed it. Look for it!!

ABV-9%
Overall impression-reminded me of DFH 90 Minute, still an old favorite
Ymm, Beer rating-low cat 3 easily; nice throwback to an old school IIPA

Geneva, IL is nearby this week.

Hops-Azacca, Citra and Mosaic
Adjunct-lactose
IBU-10 (I almost believe this)
ABV-7.2%
Overall impression-a Veil/Burial/Tree House/Trillium worthy comparison
Ymm, Beer rating-low/mid cat 3; an outstanding IPA

Along with a general assortment of Not Good beers, Duke will be serving 16oz cans of Wicked Weed Pernicious IPA at Wallace Wade. While overpriced, for a stadium vendor $10 isn't too bad for a good beer.

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Yea, that'd prolly cost ya $4-5 at Total Wine and $6-7 at a bar. It's more disappointing they went with a *&^%ing AB/InBev product instead of an assortment of choices of local beers from Durham like Fullsteam, Ponysaurus, Durty Bull, HiWire, Barrel Culture and/or Ancillary Fermentation. And y'all know we have far, far better choices for sipping/sharing/trading at the TBCC tent.CameronBornAndBred wrote: ↑September 9th, 2021, 9:23 amAlong with a general assortment of Not Good beers, Duke will be serving 16oz cans of Wicked Weed Pernicious IPA at Wallace Wade. Virtual Vacation-Old Irving Brewing Company
Darn local. We’ve actually eaten lunch and had a flight at this brewery a couple years ago with our daughter and her husband as it was nearby his old church.
Credit-trader from younger son in law; thanks!!
Style-milkshake DIPA
Storage unit-pint can, not shared as Mrs. dd took a sip and made a very, very bitter beer face
Stemware-standard pint glass
Appearance-^^^^
Nose-pineapple and coconut
Mouthfeel-juicy and tropical
Tastes-this is pretty much a pina colada milkshake (beer? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:) with wonderful coconut, pineapple and vanilla flavors masterfully interwoven
Adjuncts-pineapple, toasted coconut (tasted fresh to me), vanilla and lactose
Hops-Sabro and Strata, a fabulous combination
IBU-35
ABV-8.5%, yep, a beershake
Overall impression-one of the better of the style I’ve ever had; nothing dominant yet all very apparent; a terrific nightcap
Ymm, Beer rating-mid cat 3; yea, it was that good

Tavern Brown Ale by Alewerks Brewing Company in Williamsburg, VA.
Smooth and tasty. I like brown ale because you know you’re drinking a beer but they are not as heavy as a stout or porter.
Last week in San Diego I drank lots of Dos Equis Amber on draft.

Credit-older brother in law’s wife who delivered to their daughter in Chicago yesterday and offered to me with dinner tonight
Style-amber
Storage unit-pint can, not shared
Glassware-standard pint glass
Appearance-cafe noir with a smallish champagne head
Nose-medium caramel, earthy
Mouthfeel-slightly sweet
Tastes-dark brown sugar, herbal hops, dark toast
IBU-11
ABV-6%
Overall impression-I’d drink one of these over a Fat Tire any time; smooth and better than anticipated; delighted to have been offered this
Ymm, Beer rating-unexciting, but still upper cat 2 based on smoothness and tastes

Re: Ymm, Beer!
I haven't had a core/platform Alewerks beer since we attended a meeting in Williamsburg, probably 5 years ago, maybe more. I recall liking them a lot. They have several high gravity fall/winter ales that are very good, too.
