Better late than…

VII Anniversary Ale-Wolf’s Ridge Brewing

Reminder (from beeradvocate) of the 11 “threads” of origin for this beer:

“46% Bourbon Barrel Pi (Pumpkin Ale)
19% Bourbon Barrel Dire Wolf (Imperial Stout)
10% Maple Barrel Dire Wolf (Imperial Stout)
7% Maple Barrel Magellan (Maple Stout)
4% Buchenrauch (Rauchbier)
3% Monk’s Hood (Imperial Mocha Stout)
3% Coffee Lil’ Nippert (BB Barleywine)
3% Hammer Toss (Dunkel)
2% Lil’ Nippert (BB Barleywine)
2% Nippert (English Barleywine)
1% 2017 Tripel Whiskey (BB Tripel)”

I’ve had 6-7 of those beers and must admit, some of the individual flavors get lost in the blending.

Local? Yea, for our son who traded me a 4 pack.

Credit-^^^^
Style- cuvée
Format-12 ounce can, solo one night this week, taking an hour to sip
Stemaware-snifter
Appearance-clean dark brown; no head
Nose-booze and dark chocolate
Mouthfeel-smooth and warm
Tastes-plenty of bourbon and dark chocolate with mild “heat” (mitigated by the pumpkin pie spices) from the ancho chilies coming from the BBA Pi variant; burnt, dark caramel and dried fruits with hints of pumpkin, coffee, cinnamon and nutmeg; no smokiness
Adjuncts-too numerous to research/list given all the thread blended for this creation
IBU-maybe 40?
ABV-10%, a bit low given all the barrels/aging involved here, but still potent
Overall impression-a terrific cornucopia of Wolf’s Ridge delights
Ymm, Beer rating-mid cat 3; suffers just a bit from all the “happenings” but, if they produce an VIII Anniversary Ale and include it in a set, I’ll try to get an extra full set and share/trade
