Good article, thanks. But I disagree with this line: "The Democratic Party, which continues to move leftward...".
That's just an R talking point. We resoundingly rejected Bernie and others to go for the most centrist candidate in 2020. And where are the far left policies? Anything the right brings up is just reality to me. Green New Deal...global warming is real, and it's gonna be painful, and I'm not sure 4% of the world's population can really solve it, but we've got to try. Universal health care...people are going to get treated in this country when they get sick or are in an accident, they need to be covered and have skin in the game (getting rid of the individual mandate in an attempt to kill ACA was just ignorant).
Fiscal responsibility...HA! Every time a D is in the White House the deficit goes down, and when it's an R it goes up. EVERY TIME!
Unfortunately, I do agree with this line from the article: "Pat McCrory, the former Republican governor of North Carolina, predicted that before the midterm elections, Democrats “will overplay their cards and unite us. It’s just a matter of time.”"
Regardless of your stripe, this is the most concerning (frightening) thing of all: We just witnessed a coup attempt in this country. A majority of House Rs voted to overturn a free and fair election. The R President instigated a violent armed insurrection that attacked the elected leaders of this country and the very symbol of our nation in an attempt to keep himself in power. Yet even then he was not convicted. If that is not a crime against our country, then nothing is.
I have never been more of a Democrat than I am today. The Rs have pissed me off so much that the Ds could go full socialist and I would probably still support them. But I'll probably just drop out and say "A pox on both your houses".
