Poured vigorously from a 12 ounce can into a pint glass, generating a generous, foamy head. Grapefruit rind and juicyfruit aromas. Strong grapefruity and tropical fruity tastes with light brown sugar and a bit of piney bitterness. I'd have never guessed 90 IBUs. The ABV is 8%. Both advanced stats make this high quality IIPA that I'd have again. The remainder of the 6er will be for sharing/trading. As usual, I'd pair with an entree with some heat. Ingredients:

HOPS: CHINOOK, ID7, CITRA, MOSAIC, ZYTHOS, AMARILLO
MALTS: SIMPSONS GOLDEN PROMISE, SIMPSONS CRYSTAL LIGHT

Fizzy head dissipates quickly.

Last of its kind, at least in my fridge.

Smells like crisp apple, and sour peaches.

With apologies to accfanfrom1970 and Hardywood, New Glarus Nectar is a beer I could commit to being the only beer I ever drink (if only I were so lucky to have a lifetime supply!).

Mouthfeel is perfect- not thin, and just thick enough to be a bit syrupy.

Bright, sugary sweetness finishes with tart, underripe peach.

Format-12 ounce cans (first time ever, IIRC); $13 for the 4 pack
Canned on-01/23/20 and a buncha other numbers
Stemware-a Winston Salem Stella snifter
Appearance-incredibly dark brown with a foamy, mocha head
Nose-dark chocolate, cocoa
Mouthfeel-lubricious
Tastes-cocoa, semisweet chocolate, blackstrap molasses, hint of espresso, burnt grain
Adjuncts-cocoa
IBU-probably 60
ABV-9.6%
Overall impression-still a great beer but some of the "magic" and allure (?hype) from 5 to 10 years ago is missing
Ymm, Beer rating-low cat 3; this is also a much more crowded field than its original release year about 2005 but still a great pleasure to sip

Sorry. Didn't want to pump up anyone's hopes to have this delivered/picked up next month. Raspberry Tart and Belgian Red are year round brews now and other delights like Serendipity, Strawberry Rhubarb, Cran-Bic and Apple Ale are seasonal or perhaps "occasional" one-offs.

Overall impression-nice combination of fruity hops and fruit
Ymm, Beer rating-very nicely executed but not quite a cat 3 but certainly a high cat 2; hope the RVA folks liked this

Ommegang Three Philosophers Blueberry Coffee

Muddy brown pour, super tiny bubbles and thick transient head.

Blueberry in the nose.

Still a ton of raisin and date all over the palate.

Sweet coffee finish with a touch of blueberry.

There is a reason why OMG are letters in Ommegang.

Worth seeking out and trying.

Fullsteam Blend No 53

Charleston Earl Grey North Carolina Lavender Porter

With Videri cacoa nibs

Whoa.

Expecting this to be unusual / unique.

A paler brown pour than I expected, with a good inch of head.

A nose full of bergamot, with just a hint of chocolate.

Lavender all the way down, in a subtle and pleasing way.
Chocolate notes provide a nice interplay.

Complex and light at the same time.

While I don’t think this beer would ever be a crowd pleaser, I do think discerning palates would be delighted.

As unique an offering as I have had from Fullsteam.

A gem I am glad to enjoy!

Unreadable silver limited can
Stout of fiery death

Beautiful tan head, loads of belgian lace as it dissipates.

Lovely chocolate and cola nose.

Fudgy chocolate until a nice pop of heat at the end.

I have mixed feelings about pepper/heat spiced beer.
I’m grateful for RJ pushing boundaries and getting me to try beer outside my comfort zone.

Not generally a fan of *most* pepper beers.

Incendiary Silver Limited Edition is a special, fun, easy to drink “spicy hot” beer.

This is less heat than the last pepper beer I gave a shot.

Can’t wait for RJ to deliver Suit and Thai
