Never!! I always have one-ish each night leading up to VP unless I'm on call. I've hidden the reviews on CT during the week and then posted them OY whenever the beertender opens the doors on the day of VP. Looks like this month, I'll have to "hide" my reviews OY and then copy/paste them here whenever the LoveNinja opens the doors on .

At one of our tailgates a few years ago, about 6 of us shared 5-6 bombers and/or 750 ml bottles with the lowest one being 9.5% and the highest in the 12-13% range. The next day, August West asked everybody to remind him that he'd never try that again.LegoBatman wrote: ↑October 25th, 2020, 8:24 pmLooking at the ABV of my Trappist selections: 6.9, 7.5, 9.2, 9.5, 11.3
Probably not a good idea to have those all on the same day.

From 11/26/19:
Blackbeard's Bear Hug-Bell's Brewery
Still not local.
Credit-patience
Style-^^^^
Format-12 ounce bottle divided over 2 nights
Shelf life-unlimited
Stemware-small Duke Fuqua snifter
Appearance-same as above but I think all the coconut particles organized a meeting during the last 11 months
Nose-even rummier, I think
Mouthfeel-direct from the crankcase
Tastes-^^^^; maybe even more rummier
IBU-ditto
ABV-14.4%; really, really high octane
Overall impression-fudge cake?
Ymm, Beer rating-lost nothing with aging (unlike some posters ); would buy another 4 pack of this if they ever brew this again

Credit-RJ199's review and my Visa card
Style-rum barrel aged imperial stout with flavors (see below)
Stemware-Stella snifter from RJ199
Appearance-onyx; small tan head; some particles floating on top but not as many as the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Hornswoggler
Nose-dark rum; dark chocolate; vanilla; cinnamon
Mouthfeel-viscous
Tastes-complex interweavings of dark chocolate fudge, rum, vanilla, toasted coconut, wood, cinnamon and more rum
IBU-probably 50
ABV-a life threatening 14.4% (higher than the draft RJ199 had) and not hidden
Overall impression-pure liquid decadence; rum fudge in a glass
Ymm, Beer rating-unquestionably cat 3; happy to have 3 remaining which I'll share or sip over the next 3-6 months

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Exactly 1 year ago I had this world-class beer on the Battleship NC at the lighthouse voracious and rare beer festival. It's cancelled this year but they may do it again in April if things are better. I rated that beer a 5 on Untappd and got seconds (our tasting glass was small). Glad you got to enjoy it this weekend on the NC coast! I think Mtn Devil made it to Ocracoke this weekend where Blackbeard actually hung out.devildeac wrote: ↑October 25th, 2020, 9:50 pmFrom 11/26/19:

Yep. And, the next night, amazingly, you still had enough functioning liver and brain cells and a chauffeur extraordinaire to motor you to Topsail for an extended round of sours with some other and .richardjackson199 wrote: ↑October 25th, 2020, 9:58 pmExactly 1 year ago I had this world-class beer on the Battleship NC at the lighthouse voracious and rare beer festival. Re: Ymm, Beer!
I’ll post Zoom specifics on Friday.
Virtual Pub at 4pm ET on Saturday, 10/31.
Halloween costumes encouraged.
Theme is Trappist beer.
All are welcome, you neither have to drink beer, or have Trappist beer to join.
Seems like there might be a few fun stories to be shared since the last virtual pub.

Coffee Peanut Butter Cup Porter
Campanology Brewing - Waunakee, WI (Trader Joe's house brand)
Porter with peanut butter powder, coffee, and lactose.
ABV: 9%
220z bottle
This was ok. Poured dark/almost opaque. Smelled as described. Had a bit of an aftertaste I couldn't place. Low cat 2 for me.

Raspberry AF
Saint Arnold - Houston, TX
Fruited Berliner Weisse
ABV: 3.6%
IBU: 7
Color: raspberry
Nose: raspberry
Taste: raspberry
Wonder what that AF stands for?
This one is pretty tart and has a dry finish. I like the Rubaeus, which has a bit more sweetness to it, better.

Fullsteam American Promise
Paw Paw DIPA
Other than being referenced in a song in the original Disney animated The Jungle Book, not sure I know what a paw paw is beyond “a fruit”.
Smells very orange juicy with a lime twist.
Whoa. Creamy mouthfeel, and has a bit of vanilla and orange. A beer based Orange Julius.
I only bought one can, wish I had bought more.
Skol!

Marvelroast
Founders
Imperial Golden Ale with coffee, cocoa nibs, vanilla, and milk sugar.
ABV: 8%
IBUs: 20
Golden amber color, with lots of suspended white flecks.
Description reads like an iced latte. Aroma bears that out.
I came into this expecting it to be sweeter than it actually was. Feels a little "boozy" on the finish.
I'd take this over a Starbucks frappa-whatever any day. Cheaper, too
High cat 2/low cat 3 range. Have 3 more bottles to decide which it is.

Re: Ymm, Beer!
The ingredients read like a cheat code for Sweet Baby Jesus. I’ve not heard of Campanology, usually Trader Joe’s house brands punch above their price point.LegoBatman wrote: ↑October 26th, 2020, 5:16 pmCoffee Peanut Butter Cup Porter

There are a few breweries that do the golden stout concept really well.
Stone was the first I remember trying.
The Salty Turtle Betio blonde from Topsail was a really fun coffee blonde ale.
