Hmmmm...it looks like Biden's camp is starting to take Texas seriously.
On Monday the Biden campaign announced a slate of staff hires aimed at flipping the historically conservative Lone Star State, last won by a Democratic presidential candidate in 1976 by Jimmy Carter.
The Biden campaign insists its push for the state's 38 Electoral College votes is real.

You know it's real when they start spending money there.

Will this story gain traction? Surely this feeling is shared by some/many. I’m not on any of the (anti)social media, so I don’t really know how to judge the impact of the story “going viral.” (I see the pun, but not funny here.)
Knowing nothing, I speculate: (1) Will people who have lost loved ones take up this cry, so that it becomes a thing? (2) Will this woman receive thousands of hate-replies? (3) Will Trump respond, thus making it a thing?
The one story won't change much, but it IS another drop in that proverbial bucket, which is actually getting to be closer to swimming pool sized.
160,000 drops, as of today.

I just watched the Axios video. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. How the interviewer kept a straight face is beyond me.

I have been meaning to watch this interview of Trump on Axios - I saw some clips and the interviewer pulled no punches across a number of topics. My favorite item from this article is that when discussing his relationship with John Lewis, Trump said "Nobody has done more for black Americans than I have." So he is saying that he has done more for black Americans than John Lewis did? And his typical passive aggressive comment that Lewis did a lot for civil rights, "but there were many others also."
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/worl ... 52501.html
It gets better. All he could say, when asked about Lewis’ accomplishments, was, “He didn’t attend my inauguration.”
Anyone who has not watched the entire interview should do so. His logic, or lack thereof, is ... interesting. I like that he came prepared with graphs to demonstrate what a wonderful job he’s doing with the Covid-19 response. Only, they were not done correctly. Good times.

My sister-in-law works in a nursing home, deep in a very rural area of Trumplandia, that has a big COVID-19 outbreak. They’ve lost 6 residents so far, and more are becoming ill daily. The situation makes me sick. It makes me wonder if it will change opinions in that area. My SIL is a typical Trumplandian who believes that the president is doing a wonderful job and is being treated very unfairly. The President’s current spin, as per the Axios interview, is that China brought the virus here intentionally In retaliation if his trade policy. And, of course, that we only have more cases because we are testing more. And that his administration is providing the states with all the resources they need....

Today's Final Jeopardy!
Answer: Yo, Semite.
Question: How does Trump address his son-in-law?

Biden will not go to Milwaukee to accept the nomination.
Smart move.

Meanwhile, Trump announces he will accept his nomination from the White House. Even some Republicans are unhappy with that (John Thume for example).
Oh, and Kanye’s petition to get on the Wisconsin ballot was submitted — by a Trump operative. And Trump filed suit to stop Nevada’s mail-in voting.
Dirty tricks just starting.

As speedily as the courts have handled the rest of Trump's legal affairs, that one will be decided by some time next summer.

I'm not a lawyer. but haven't elections always been a state matter? I think he's going to need a better reason than "I might lose".
Here's a link to some detailed NC polling. Bottom line: Biden and Cunningham are winning.

Twitter said on Wednesday it had restricted President Donald Trump's campaign from tweeting after its account shared a video containing false claims about the coronavirus.
The tweet, a video of Trump's interview with Fox News in which he said children are "almost immune" to the virus, "is in violation of the Twitter Rules on Covid-19 misinformation," a Twitter spokesperson said in a statement. "The account owner will be required to remove the Tweet before they can Tweet again."
They are back up and running, but still.
Countdown the days until Trump threatens Twitter with a shutdown.

A new poll out today finds that
48 percent of registered voters asked intend to vote for the Democrat, compared to 38 percent for Trump.
The other 14 percent said they were either not sure, would not vote or may pick another candidate.
However, among them 8 percent said they would lean towards Biden if they had to choose between the two.
