Re: Hurricane Season
Durham has had constant thunder for the last hour. And this is just the outermost band. Not that I expect we will get hit anywhere near as hard as the coast.

Re: Hurricane Season
I called my Mom who moved to Charleston from the Va mountains earlier this year. She said it is barely even windy there. They were told it would be noticeable by 10am, and I spoke with her at 11:30.
I just got back from Walmart, needed to get a few things that I needed anyway. Lousy timing, that place was a zoo. (At least everyone had masks on)

Re: Hurricane Season
Track is going west.
The Triangle may be in for a Fran repeat. (I remember that night, literally the worst storm I've been through.)

Re: Hurricane Season
85MPH landfall near Wilmington. Watching some video shared from friends on Facebook at Carolina Beach. It's not gonna be pretty there tomorrow morning.

Re: Hurricane Season
Hope all our beach folk are holding up ok! Just a lot of rain here in Durham so far (at least where I'm at).

Re: Hurricane Season
Power popped off at 1:30. Way loud here.

Re: Hurricane Season
Hope all survived okay! We had a stronger storm through here than I expected but other than branches down I think it was relatively okay.

Re: Hurricane Season
Yep. Power still out but looks like it is localized outages. Buncha branches down, so sweaty cleanup later.
At least I didn't prep the generator for nothing.
Didn't sleep much, that was a loud night!

Re: Hurricane Season
Our A/C went out - ten hours before the storm arrived. Other than that, not much of note to come from Tropical Storm Unpronounceable in my area.

Re: Hurricane Season
Sounds like everyone is unscathed. Great news.
I posted in the Good Morning thread already, but Mom in the 757 is safe and never lost power. A relief. She is 89....

Re: Hurricane Season
While we came out relatively unscathed, the Northeast is getting slammed hard. Over 2 million without power.

Re: Hurricane Season
It's amazing what that "little" storm did.
Cleanup for some folks is going to take a while. 3.7 million without power at one point.

Re: Hurricane Season
Gulf Coast is currently threatened by back-to-back tropical storms. TS Marco closely followed by TS Laura.

Re: Hurricane Season
Looking more than likely that both will be at least Cat 1 hurricanes. Marco is more troubling for those folks; it does not look like it just going to speed away. In fact, it will probably be hanging around Texas still dumping rain on the region when Laura makes landfall.Bob Green wrote: ↑August 23rd, 2020, 11:04 amGulf Coast is currently threatened by back-to-back tropical storms. Re: Hurricane Season
Overnight, Marco went from a hurricane to a minimal tropical storm, down to 50mph. Good news for the Gulf.
