Vibes and prayers for John, Sheree, and the medical team.
Good morning. No snow or ice today! Supposed to snow on Saturday into Sunday afternoon.

I like snow but am ready for Spring now.
Life is good!

Good "TGIF" morning. I'm taking grandson Zeke to the Norfolk Admirals hockey game tonight. We've never been to a hockey game.
Duke baseball plays Penn State in Florida at 4 pm.
Duke lacrosse plays at Richmond at 7 pm.
Go Duke!

Good morning!
It was a long day yesterday - 12 hours from the time they took him to surgery to the time he went to recovery! John is apparently a bleeder so they had issues with managing that and also his tissue is friable (?) so there were issues with getting things patched. However, the Dr. said he is pleased with the end result and that John's heart is working well. I was able to lay eyes on him in ICU and plant a kiss on his forehead before heading home last night. The biggest concern was watching the bleeding overnight. Heading back over shortly to continue the vigil. Will meet with the surgeon again this afternoon.
Thank you so much for the vibes and prayers - I know they helped everyone stay focused!

Reached into my "bag 0' vibes" and grabbed out a big double handful for ya, Shereec! Keep us posted. Here's hoping he gets stronger every single day and recovery goes off without a hitch! This is scary, I know. Don't forget to breathe!
Love, Ima

Good morning!
John was awake and charming the staff when I got to ICU yesterday morning. Such a relief! The bleeding that was of concern seems to be under control - they gave him some platelets and that seems to have done the trick. He was extubated in the wee hours of the morning so he was happy about that (being intubated was the thing that made him the most anxious going into this...) They got him sitting up in a chair for his dinner (solid food!) and started working on his breathing exercises. Of course every little thing wore him out, so it was a long day for him but a much better day for me! Progress!
I have to say that so far our experience at the heart and vascular hospital at Rex has been positive (well, except for waiting 12 hours for surgery to be over...). The people have been so positive, kind and caring - from the surgeons to the nurses to the volunteers to the housekeepers. I'll also say that it's been most helpful to share with all of you - thank you for your thoughts and vibes and prayers. They help so much!! Y'all ROCK!
My cousin's son is coming down from Alexandria to use my ticket this afternoon (he's so excited), and John and I'll be watching on tv, hopefully from a regular room. But if we're still in ICU there's a very large tv in his room. We're covered.

GO DUKE!!!

Good morning!
Great news, Sheree! Prayers and vibes continue for all.
Visited with my friend Janette this morning. She is not looking forward to her next round of chemo this week. Hopefully it won't be as rough on her as the first round. BiL Wayne has his final appt with a surgeon on Monday and then they need to decide how to proceed.

Good morning. Baseball against Penn State at noon today. It is the rubber match for the series.
I posted this on the football board but am re-posting here for wider exposure:
A couple of number changes have been announced:
RB Brittain Brown will wear #8 this year. He wore #22 previously.
WR Aaron Young will wear #81 this year. He wore #8 previously.

Good morning!
John continues to improve, but another day in ICU to get oxygen levels and BP where they want. However, all the tubes came out yesterday and he walked 4 times. Hoping he had a good night.
Sending vibes and prayers to your friend and BiL, DinK!
What a good game last night! So much fun to see Jack's smile and how much fun Zion was having with his teammates!
