I heard about the Red Dawn remake a few days ago, but I didn't realize it involved Cruise the younger. I'm not sure how I feel about this one...I love the original, and I don't quite understand how they'll make it translate to a post-Cold War audience (my bet is on some kind of terrorism-related plot...yeccchbjornolf wrote:For all you ladies (and gents) who love you some Tom Cruise, but think he went a little crazy with the scientology thing and the jumping on Oprah's couch and the abusing reporters, apparently his son is doing a Red Dawn remake.

Enjoy.
He used to be my wife's favorite actor. She loved him up through Minority Report. She hated Vanilla Sky and Eyes Wide Shut and the second and third Mission Impossible movies. She hasn't seen Valkyrie yet, but I doubt it's her kind of movie. She's hoping that his career recovers, but she's not holding her breath.DukeUsul wrote:Are there any Tom Cruise fans anymore?
I hated Vanilla Sky - I was glad we went on free tickets. Consensus of those around us - we either wanted our time back or wished we had imbibed more spirits before/during the movie. It was the first time I can remember wanting someone on the edge of a building to jump.bjornolf wrote:He used to be my wife's favorite actor. She loved him up through Minority Report. I can't stand him anymore. He was good in Tropic Thunder, but as a celebrity, I can't stand him.DukeUsul wrote:Are there any Tom Cruise fans anymore?
I liked him in Top Gun, but that's about it.CameronBornAndBred wrote:I can't stand him anymore. He was good in Tropic Thunder, but as a celebrity, I can't stand him.DukeUsul wrote:Are there any Tom Cruise fans anymore?
I agree, but my wife says I'm full of it. She's always liked him, though she's lost a lot of her "doing it for her" factor since about Magnolia. Now I think she's a little creeped out by him.CathyCA wrote:I liked Tom Cruise in Top Gun and Rainman.
However, Tom Cruise has never done "it" for me. My gaydar beeps when I see him. I don't care how much litigation he's engaged in to convince himself and the world that he's not gay, my gaydar tells me that he is gay. And I'm okay with his being gay. I wish that Tom Cruise could accept and embrace it, too.
So, ever since the very public pregnancy and wedding to Katie Holmes--actually since the very public breakup with Nicole Kidman--I've been "done" with Tom Cruise.
Speaking of George, check out the thread I just started.Bostondevil wrote:My gaydar is extremely faulty. It doesn't beep all that often and when it does, it's sometimes wrong. I don't, however, believe it for a second when someone tells me George is gay. Cathy, am I right?
Is that The Island in the background?bjornolf wrote:Speaking of George, check out the thread I just started.Bostondevil wrote:My gaydar is extremely faulty. PS- Did I ever tell you my mom babysat him and some of his siblings when she was a teenager? ;)
Speaking of Clooney, what's up with THIS picture?
That's probably about how my mom saw him fifty years or so ago.
You're correct.Bostondevil wrote:My gaydar is extremely faulty. It doesn't beep all that often and when it does, it's sometimes wrong. I don't, however, believe it for a second when someone tells me George is gay. Cathy, am I right?
