The Hurricane Thread

Post by ArkieDukie » September 10th, 2017, 7:03 pm

Since this season has been brutal so far, I thought it might be good to just have a whole thread devoted to hurricane related discussions.

Sending vibes to all in the path of Irma. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: Windsor posted recently that her electricity went out. My niece is in Tallahassee; looks like Irma is tracking a little to the east of her. Is anyone else in the path?

Nephew on the east coast who battened down the hatches and is riding out the storm. Last we heard they are ok. Lost power before the big hit. Anxious to hear from him today. Big hugs to all in the path! Nasty for sure.

My friend Robin is at her daughter's in Orlando. Posted on FB this morning that they were fine and didn't lose power. No word from my cousin Scott, hunkered down in the same area.

Brother Dave has checked in - still has power but has gained a shingled front yard and a broken maple tree. Waiting to hear on Niece Jeni.

I saw an email which reported Windsor was safe but without electricity or cell phone service. The email referenced a Facebook post by her daughter.

My niece is safe as well. No power, though.

Bob, thanks for the update on Windsor. I was especially worried about her. Didn't her area take a direct hit?

Brother Dave found out that the shingles weren't his. :happy-bouncyblue:
Niece Jeni had some trees down but still had power. One tree fell on another downed tree which made it miss the house. Clean up may be tricky.

oops, I posted Irma news in wrong thread. Nephew and pg wife have reported in and are fine - damage limited to trees & fence. also without power. I too saw the post by Windsor's daughter - they are fine but without power and cell service!

Hampton Roads Navy bases went into Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness 3 this afternoon. Ships are preparing to sortie in advance of Hurricane Jose who is expected to affect the area Monday or Tuesday with high winds and rain. Twelve foot seas are forecast at the Chesapeake Lighthouse.

Ships are safest at sea where they can run from the storm.
